“A great stay in Prince Rupert”
Reviewed 16 February 2012

I regulary stay here because the price is great, the rooms are clean and breakfast is included. Generally speaking the hotel is very quiet, although of course, this hotel, like every hotel in the world is noisy when the hotel is fully booked. The breakfast is nice with muffins and toast, juices and yogurt and coffee or tea. This is my preferred hotel in Prince Rupert.

Although I have visited Prince Rupert on many occasions this was my first stay at the Inn on the HARBOUR. I was pleasantly suprised with the friendly staff, clean and quiet rooms with an awesome view overlooking the Harbour. This will be my stay of choice in the future.

I stayed at this hotel over the weekend for two nights in between Ferries. We had a harbour view room with a California king bed. The room was nicely appointed with a flat screen tv, mini fridge, and in room coffee maker. The bathroom could use an update, but it was clean. The shower went from cold to hot quite a few times, and the shower head was only about 5.5 feet, so we had to crouch!

You can tell the walls are pretty thin as I could hear our neighbours tv through the wall, but not too much else. There is no gym or restaurant attached to the hotel, but they do have a continental breakfast from 6 - 10 in the morning with coffee, toast, yogurt, and fruit.

The downside was there is no balcony and no other amenities at the hotel, and the strangely short shower. They lock the outside door at 11 so you have to buzz to get in, and there is a person at the front 24 hours which is nice.

Overall this is a nice, clean hotel that is probably the best in Rupert, next to the Crest. I would stay here again if they had a gym, but I think I would go back to the Coast or the Highliner next time.

My wife and I stayed here overnight before boarding the BC Ferry to Vancouver Island. I agree with others here who have said the harbor view rooms are superior. I loved the view out the expansive window and the binoculars that were waiting there for our use was a nice touch. I didn't see any whales and just a few boats, but it still was interesting viewing.

This night was an uncomfortably warm one, especially for fall, but this motel like others in Canada doesn't have air conditioning, just a fan. I'm not sure why that is but it doesn't make for great sleeping. The desk clerk was helpful, as when I asked for a reasonably priced local seafood restaurant. She balked at "reasonably priced", which is understandable since so many seafood restaurants are pricy. She gave us a couple in town though, and we dined at Dolly's Seafood Market, a small cafe whose blackboard menu covers one of the walls. Not a lot of variety and the prices were moderate but it was quaint, with fresh, tasty fare.

As other travelers have mentioned, they open their continental breakfast early, about 5 a.m., to accommodate ferry-goers. The set-up is a little awkward with pastries being served on a coffee table in front of a sofa where guests can sit. So you feel like you're taking someone else's breakfast when you reach down to grab your muffin. At least those sitting there look at you like you're taking their muffin.

The ferry is just a short, easy drive down the road. People like to get there early to claim the window seats on the boat. Just hope you're not in a lane behind someone who has their passports packed away, as happened in the lane next to us. The cars in that line were waiting for quite some time while the cars in our lane moved along steadily. Have your passports and tickets ready!

This hotel is centrally located in town, from where you can walk to the shops and restaurants. It is also opposite the airport drop off point so was ideal for us flying in and then catching the ferry the next morning. Check in was prompt and reception staff friendly. We had booked a mountain view room, which was perfectly adequate for our short stay. However, being on the ground floor we were right next to the car park and there was some noise from kids running around and shouting right outside our window. Not great when you have an early start, so we would book a harbour view (rear of hotel) next time. There is a light continental breakfast (coffee and toast) served in the morning, which starts early enough to catch a quick bite pre-ferry. We had booked a taxi the night before to take us the short drive to the ferry terminal, but unfortunately, reception had forgotten to book it. As this was shoulder/low season, a replacement was quickly ordered for us. A good choice of hotel for an overnight stay.

Room Tip: Choose a harbour view room.
