good atmosphere and menu. We were in town for medical tests and needed a relaxing place to eat without too much noise in the background. This restaurant fit the bill nicely and we enjoyed our meal. View of the river and nice evening sunshine made it especially relaxing.

The location of Storms is without question its trump card. As the name suggests it is literally right by the river and the views from the restaurant are lovely, particularly as the sun sinks down. On a warmer evening, an outdoor seat on the balcony would be a treat - fully surrounded by glass, the views are unimpeded. We dined with friends who are locals and they suggested Storms as they've "never had a bad meal here". The service was great - from go to whoa it was warm, friendly, well-timed and professional. We couldn't have asked for better. The surroundings are clean and comfortable but slightly dated; I was reminded of an old-fashioned motel restaurant. Menu choices are about right - wide enough to please most tastes but not so big as to be confusing. Blackboard specials complement the regular fare. A generous bread basket with an eclectic choice, was provided promptly. Starter salads were nothing out of the ordinary and I thought the dressing was applied with a somewhat heavy hand. I opted for the salmon for main (sockeye) and while it was a richly flavoured and brightly coloured offering, I felt it was overcooked, rendering it somewhat dry. The accompanying pea risotto was also dry and a bit gluggy, lacking in the subtle flavour I look for in this dish. I wondered if it had been reheated, or left standing. One of our group had the poached halibut and said it was good. The stand out was the daily special: 35 day dry aged prime rib, served with garlic mash and roasted Brussels sprouts. Even this was overcooked; the order was rare but the serving was distinctly medium rare. The saving grace was that it was still moist, tender and flavoursome, with a superb and succulent sauce. It was also very expensive! A shared dessert of chocolate lava cake was really delicious; all the food was artfully presented. The wine and beer list was about what you'd expect, with a range of price points. It was a pleasant enough experience but I suspect there are probably better value dining options around town.

We went to Storms on the advice of local friends and were really happy we did. The décor is a bit minimalist but since we like booths we were happy with our seating. Our server was prompt and also was very knowledgeable about the menu. We had the scallops appetizer and the calamari, each of which was among the best we have had anywhere. This was followed by Halibut and cioppino entrees, again, superb. The wine list is limited and features mostly local wines but there is something for every taste. The best surprise was the price, excellent for the quality o9f the food and service.
We were so happy we went back later in the week with a group of friends and were again blown away. We didn't expect to find a gem like this in Kamloops. Wish it was closer to us!!

Greeted with a smile by the staff at front of house. Sorted a table for six fairly quickly. The decor is a bit dated but the restaurant looks clean and tidy. The food was all nice but not outstanding. The Caesar salad dressing was more of a garlic oil dressing. Would have been 4/5 but our plates were cleared whilst one of the group was still eating and we were asked if we wanted the desert menu. Made the meal feel a rushed and is not the done thing. Prices were reasonable but expected better service for what we payed.
