“After much reconstruction, Douglas Fir Trail now open”

I had heard the City had finished fixing the Douglas Fir Trail, and that it was open. The trails are on the north facing escarpments of Edworthy Park, and so were still VERY snowy, even in April. I tried seeing how far I could go in my walking shoes, but the icy trails looked a bit scary, so I didn't get too far. To be comfortable exploring this trail until the ice goes, users should really be wearing serious ice grips on their shoes or boots, and I think I'll go back soon but more suitably geared up.

What a beautiful and easy walk in the Calgary Woods . This tree sanctuary is right by Bowness park and it is beautiful and simple walk .
We went with friends and one 8 years old , it was easy for all of us . The light shining in the forest was beautiful ! Only problem would be summer time when the little water stream is not frozen and I am not sure how you cross it back to the park .
Very pretty walk that’s for sure !

Never seen so versatile yet approachable facility in the heart of the city . easy to access , easy to park and go , not too crowded multifaceted facility !! Just sit and chat , roller skate , jog, run , bike , enjoy icecream , coffee , picnic , river front , fish , boating any thing and every thing just soak in sun !! Most cities do have such facilities but haven't seen like a just right one ! in terms of size , crowd , accessibility , location ....come enjoy it . and make sure leave it more cleaner then u got to see it first time , so everyone will be able to enjoy it !

A large off leash area makes this a great place to take dogs for the day. The last time my wife and I were these though a woman walking a very aggressive pitbull made a lot of the other dog owners very uncomfortable .
