The Aloft hotel turned out to be an excellent choice for us whilst visiting the Stampede. The hotel is modern, clean and in a good location.

Our room had plenty of space for bags, a nice big walk-in shower, and a very comfortable bed. Everything was spotlessly clean. The room also had a coffee machine, safe, and daily bottles of water. Wifi in the room was fast and reliable.

Breakfast was a simple affair but had a good selection of cereals, bagels, toast, and hot items. Coffee/tea was also available in the lobby throughout the day. The hotel had an indoor pool and a nice fitness area.

I was concerned the location would be a problem, however the train station was across the road and it went direct to the downtown area and also to the Stampede grounds in about 15 mins. This made getting around very easy. Parking at the hotel was also plentiful, so we were able to leave the car to do our exploring.

Nearby is a wonderful BBQ restaurant Big T's, and a Denny's if you don't want to go back into the city.

I would certainly stay again!

I am surprised that the Hotel cost is around CAD 300/night in Aloft Calgary University but every night they only give One Bottle of Water. Eventhough I am SPG member and staying with my family and never ever seen any hotel gave only one bottle of water for even single person.
Very disappointed

Room tip: all rooms are same.

We stayed 4 nights at Aloft Calgary University. The hotel reception/lobby area is quite nice, with a TV/sitting area, pool table, computers/printer and snack food area (extra/purchase). The reception staff were polite and helpful. Adjoining the reception is a spacious bar/restaurant/TV lounge for both breakfast (free/included) and dinner menu (extra/a la carte). There is an indoor area with a small splash pool (no hot tub), sun beds and lounge seating (if you don't mind the chlorine smell). There is also a good-sized, well-equipped gym. Free uncovered parking is available around the hotel building. The free wifi was good throughout.

Our room was a bit above average in size with 2 queen-size beds for the 3 adults in our family. There was the standard LCD TV and 2 desk areas (we had to request a 2nd chair). A mini-fridge and single-cup coffee machine were included (no microwave). The bathroom had an enclosed shower-only/toilet area (no bathtub), separate from the sink area, which worked out well for us. The clothes closet did not have a door, only a curtain. Beds were comfortable.

It was a pleasant stay for us and we would stay there again if visiting Calgary.
