Location and Access – The villa is in a remote rural location on the outskirts of the small town of Quimbaya about 50 to 60 minutes by private car from Armenia airport.

Google Earth – The property can just about be seen from the road on street view

Architectural Style – Traditional 2 storey finca mainly of wooden construction. Most rooms on the ground floor and on the 1st floor a wrap around veranda reached by external staircases with several more rooms, sitting and dining areas and the kitchen

Reception – No formal reception area. I was warmly greeted by the owner and her staff who speak little or no English and was supplied with a delicious ice cream coffee flavoured welcome cocktail

Public Areas/Decor – All maintained immaculately. The grounds in particular, which contain a small swimming pool, are a burst of colour and alive with many species of birds

Guest Facilities – In the sitting room area a TV

Food Offering – Excellent freshly prepared breakfasts and 3 course evening meals

Guest Rooms – Vary in size and amenities

Space – Mine was on the ground floor and benefitted from a patio with a north eastern facing view of the garden. The room itself was very small and cell like

Decor/Maintenance/Cleanliness – Everything appeared clean with simple décor and some artwork on the wall

Furnishing/Bed – This was very traditional. Reasonable size double bed, side tables, open fronted wardrobe and suitcase stand and no room for anything more. Rocking chair on the patio

Bathroom – This looked to have been renovated recently and tiled. Shower was powerful enough with a good supply of hot water. Cold water only wash basin. Complimentary toiletries

Amenities including Entertainment – No in room TV, fridge or tea/coffee making. Jugged water left in the room each evening. Very few sockets for charging mobile devices (with adaptor). Whether a coincidence or not my mobile phone encountered a technical problem whilst being charged. WiFi was generally good but seemed to drop out at a certain time each evening

Lighting – Pretty dim. Natural light only by opening wooden shutters (covering meshed windows (no glazing)) and by opening the door (not recommended in order to keep out pests)

Heating/Air Conditioning -None other than a desk top fan

Noise - My room was located next to a wooden staircase and below the kitchen so there was quite a bit of noise from creaking floorboards. Nature lovers will appreciate the chitter and chatter of all the wildlife – but it kept me awake!

Security – No in room safe. Yale lock on room door

X Factor – The Villa Nora gives the traveller the opportunity to experience what it would have been like to live in a traditional wealthy family finca of yesteryear in a glorious remote rural landscape. Wildlife devotees and ornithologists in particular will adore this place

We stayed at Villa Nora for two nights and would definitely have stayed longer if possible. The house is just as wonderful as the staff which really tries to fulfill all your wishes while staying at Villa Nora. Special thanks also to Roberto for his interesting tour around his coffee plantation and beautiful garden and Nora for welcoming us in her house full of history. We would definitely come back to this place! It is a great Finca to relax and for tours around the coffee region.

Impossible to dislike - within easy reach of coffee farms and the extraordinary giant palms at Cocora, yet it is an oasis of calm, with simple but beautiful rooms, great food, lovely grounds. Nora and her team at absolutely brilliant, they couldn't do enough for us. We loved it.

We arrived at Villa Nora and immediately felt in heaven. Everything was perfect! The fantastic house, the beautiful garden, the room, the people working at Villa Nora. We stayed for 5 days and every day was wonderful. We enjoyed the calmness of the place and the fruits growing in the garden. We did tours (cafe farm and a one day trip to Salento, Filandia and the Valle de Corcora) that Villa Nora organized for us and met a lot of nice and friendly people wherever we went.
Tip: If you need an english speaking driver, ask for Santiago, he is very nice and helpful.
Villa Nora is worth every Penny!!!!

Room Tip: Upper floor.
