Stayed for 3 nights as our first anniversary and enjoyed it so much we are already planning to do the same next year as it's a fantastic blend of clean and modern living space in a beautiful location with great views and good pubs nearby.
The hosts are friendly and the attention to detail is very good so fully recommended.

“Excellent accommodation, with superb views, welcome pack, relaxation”
Reviewed 14 April 2015 for a stay in April 2015

this is our 3rd visit in less than a year, cottage still excellent in every way, homely warm and plenty of hot water. Toiletries and welcome pack on arrival and lovely hosts Ian and Elaine.
Lovely to relax and take in the views, had a lovely week of sunshine with plenty of walks from the door. "The Dead Poets" Public house great for food and also the Marsh Green Farm Shop for food both to eat and to buy, or just to relax with coffee. The Black Swan to sit and have a drink sat in the sunshine outside after a long walk. A must visit is the Tuck shop in the village. You will not be disappointed in staying at The Retreat this is a little gem! of a very high standard and lovely through and through - could quite easily live here.

This is my second stay to enable me to meet with family in the locality. A wonderful situation, fabulous bird watching from the lounge window and stunning accommodation.

“Excellent accommodation, high standard warm and cosy great views”
Reviewed 13 January 2015 for a stay in December 2014

Wonderful stay over Christmas and New Year with snow arriving Boxing Day, warm and cosy and everything you could wish for, lovely views across the valley and surrounding areas, great for walking and relaxing in the peace and quiet. Lovely welcome from Ian and Elaine really lovely hosts and nothing too much trouble. All to a high standard and never want to leave when we are there.Left a welcome pack which was most appreciated. Plenty of eating places nearby and worth a visit to the "Tuck Shop" and butchers/greengrocers and as always a visit to the Farm Shop and Cafe just before the village. This is a lovely cottage and well worth a visit like us you will want to keep going back!

“Perfect, cosy retreat, fit for a honeymoon!”
Reviewed 4 January 2015 for a stay in December 2014

We got married in Ashover in December and chose to stay at The Retreat during the wedding weekend and an extra few days for our mini-moon! It was the perfect place to stay for our special weekend, we would highly recommend it for romantic breaks in a lovely village with great pubs, walks, and friendly people.
It was very easy to book and liaise with Ian on the arrangements, he kindly left some provisions so we could feel settled straight away.
We have already recommended it to friends and family who intend to stay at The Retreat this year for a relaxing break.
