This beautiful house provided the perfect venue for our extended family who gathered together to celebrate Great Grandmas 90th birthday. The beds were very comfortable, the kitchen amazing and the lounges large enough to accommodate our party of 15 adults, 6 children, 2 babies and 2 dogs. The dining room with its large tables allowed us all to enjoy a very special birthday meal together. We selected caterers from the list provided and they did a wonderful job, nothing was too much trouble. The house is surrounded by gorgeous countryside and there is a very good pub within walking distance. There is a small garden with tables, chairs and BBQ, but this is only accessed by very steep stone steps and small children and Grandma found these rather difficult. The only disappointment was the loss of two nights sleep due to the excess noise from the property next door, this went on until 3 am! Having made the management aware of the problem they assured us that they had spoken to the neighbours and there is an understanding that outside noise will be kept to a minimum after 10.00.pm. unfortunately this was not respected during our stay visit. Despite this our stay at Cliff House was amazing and we will remember it for a very long time.

“Stunning house in gorgeous location”
Reviewed 12 May 2014 for a stay in May 2014

Just returned from a weekend at Cliff House with 20 women for my daughters hen party. Couldn't be more impressed with the standard of the rooms. Lovely beds, quality bedding and towels. Every appliance you could ever need in the kitchen. The heiffers in the field next door arrived at the kitchen window each morning to greet us and we could not be more convenient for the delights of Derbyshire. In all an excellent house for a large group, lovingly re-fitted and perfectly sited for Monsal Head and Chatsworth house

“Fantastic venue for gathering of family and friends”
Reviewed 5 May 2014 for a stay in April 2014

We have just returned from the most amazing four days of pure happiness, relaxation and enjoyment enabled by Cliff House and the people who run it. We have never attempted anything like a family and friends gathering of 30 people safe catered before.

The service from first contact through eagerness to return the deposit via instant response to small difficulties, the whole team's efforts were exceptional including cleaners, gardener and local support. Cliff House is a fantastic facility in a fabulous location and was absolutely spot on perfect for our four day long family and friends celebration.
I agree completely with the previous review

We had the best possible time, self-catering for 30 people from age 4 (best hide and seek ever) to 70 (led the impromptu morning Tai Chi sessions on the lawn). Some drove, some arrived by train or by train and bike along the trail. Fantastic location for pootlers, walkers, sight-seers (Haddon, Hardwick, and Chatsworth all visited) road cyclists and off-road cyclists. Even the weather was good to us.

Monsal Dale is fabulous - spotting orchids and watching dippers feeding their young by the waterfall was a rare treat for some of the city folk. We walked in through different directions up hills and down dales. history at Litton Dale, tea and hot cholcolate with marshmallows at the Hassop Station Cafe

The houses are beautifully set-up and immaculately clean. Opening the kitchen cupboards and finding a wealth of clean shiny plates, glasses, cups, cutlery and cooking implements is such a good mood setter.

Having Waitrose turn up early and be let in before we arrived and off-load the biggest food-shop ever into the fridge and onto the tables just set the scene for a series of formal dinners and informal breakfasts and lunches. Having sufficient tables and cloths for a sit down meal of 26 was fab. And even the egg-cups served as tea-light holders to provide candle lit meals!

“Amazing house/cottage, great location.”

Residing in the cliff house was an amazing experience for us excited holiday makers. The immaculate views surrounding the cottage were overwhelming. The impeccable, exceptional scenery was a joy to watch and just embracing natures beauty at its best was enough to enjoy this holiday. However, the cliff house gave us much more. It is a beautiful Victorian cottage that is constructed flawlessly and is a beauty from both the inside and out. Inside the cottage are spacious, comfortable rooms where a large family are able to relax and bond. The bedrooms were also ample size and in fact very roomy. The bathrooms and en suites were also very clean and frankly faultless. The kitchen provided much more than the bare necessities for household cooking. With crockery, coffee machines, to baby play mats and push chairs the cliff house was a definite luxury. The cottage also has a large dining table which allows all family members to sit together to eat, this was a luxury in itself as not everyday you are able to sit with your cousins, uncles and grand parents to eat and enjoy a meal together. Each window in the cottage had awe-inspiring views of the freshly mowed fields and in the distance many animals. The garden was a reasonable size and was fit to have a barbeque. The cliff house is situated in a perfect place close to shops and not far from the town centre and with many parks nearby. It has beautiful fields accessible to walkers and just about two minutes away there is a sublimely constructed bridge upon which one can see the cliffs and the mountains that they are surrounded by. The cliff house is in fact a five star experience, upon which leaving becomes a tearful experience. In fact, staying only a few days we began calling it 'home' and thus this insinuates the uniqueness of this cottage and as content holiday makers we do hope to repeat the experience. Our family consisted of a varied age of people and yet everyone enjoyed it as much as each other. Without doubt, cliff house is better than seen in the pictures and overall is a highly enjoyable, gratifying experience.
