“Absolutely wonderful”

Second stay, this time more of us. Still as good as the first time. This cottage is really home from home, has everything and more that you need. Walking is easy as there are walks right from the front door.
Would recommend this cottage without hesitation.

“Lovely cottage”
Reviewed 1 May 2015 for a stay in April 2015

This was a perfect short break, weather a bit cool so we were a little anxious about needing to switch on the heating as the joining instructions were a bit keen to advise that there could be an additional charge for over use of the heating (and WiFi). Even so, we just enjoyed the pleasant cottage, lovely walks through to. Dovedale over the Stepping Stones. Would certainly go again.

“Great cottage, great family break”
Reviewed 13 April 2015 for a stay in April 2015

Just returned from a fantastic few days at Bankside. It is a lovely, well equipped cottage in a great location....walks and cycling right on the doorstep. The cottage thoughtfully provides bikes, BBQ, outdoor seating and inside it's like a home from home. After a day walking from the door to the stepping stones at Dove Stones (7mile round trip..mostly flat apart from the 109 steps up and down hill at lovers leap) they then spent the rest of the early evening playing on the bikes and down by the river. Not a gadget in sight!! And to make the parental dream even more idyllic the spring sunshine was good enough to sit outside with a glass of wine before retreating indoors to a roaring fire. The following day we worked up a healthy appetite walking up to Alstonefield to The George for lunch. All in all a lovely break. The nearby villages have some lovely artisan shops but in reality if you arrived well stocked (or got an on line order delivered) you could happily park the car in the drive and leave it there for a few days.

“Very Well Equipped and Great Location”
Reviewed 8 April 2015 for a stay in April 2015

Just spent four wonderful days at Bankside Cottage in Mildale. Some cottages provide the bare minimum, but not Bankside. In addition to the welcome basket of wine, hot cross buns and biscuits it had everything you need for a holiday stay. If marvelous scenery, peace and quiet and easy access to great walking is your thing then Bankside is unbeatable. Mildale is an idyllic village on the River Dove. It offers splendid walks along the Dove while the Tissington Trail and Ashbourne are close by. For us it was perfect. It was dog friendly and had wi-fi for our techno obsessed teenagers. Add in great weather and you will see we couldn't have asked for more. The cottage was comfortable, clean and well cared for. The only minor downside was that it was a bit cool when we arrived, but once wwe switched on the central heating we soon warmed up. Pity I'm useless at making up a coal fire as there was plenty of coal, wood and paper provided. Thoroughly recommend this lovely cottage to all those who love the Peaks.
