Nagarjuna Sagar dam was built accross Kirshna rivar. It is one of civil engineering marvel. It has so many picturesque locations for nature lovers. It's reservoir has made largest man-made lake. In the middle of this lake, one can find island called Nagarjua Konda, which is largest and most important buddhist centre in South India. One has to tavel by traller to reach Nagarjua Konda, which was named after Acharya Nagarjuna, a renowned buddhist scolar and philosopher, who had migrated here from Amarvati to propagate and spread the Buddha's message of universal peace and brotherhood.
Just about 11 kms from the Nagarjunasagar Dam are the Ethipothala Waterfalls on the Chadravanka river, a tributary of the Krishna. In absolutely scenic surroundings, you can marvel at the shimmering water as it cascades down 70 feet into a lagoon. The picture postcard beauty have made this a favorite picnic spot of visitors. While at Ethipothala, another place well worth a visit is the crocodile breeding centre. Here you can safely see these reptiles from close quarters and observe their fascinating habits.
I stayed in A.P Tourism Hotel Haritha Vijay Vihar. It is located in the banks of the reservoir with a spledid view of man-made lake and sorroundings. It has got well mantained lawns, garden and rooms & restaurant. It has also gym and swimming pool.
I rate the location and facilities at this hotel are excellent. But the restaurant provides you restricted menu of your choice. You have to plan for your dinner and lunch at hotel. Otherwise you will have to spend the day starved.
