The resort is very clean and all the staff are very friendly and helpful. The restaurants are excellent. Did the time share presentation and received $240.00 vouchers which we used for Vallarta tours. We walked on the beach to the north for 1 1/2 hours to other towns. The wi fi internet is quite costly but not needed when on vacation.

Overall our vacation was excellent and we would go back to Marival Resort.

Room Tip: Rooms above the main lobby can be noisy at night.

We last stayed here in 2002 and knew a bit about the resort prior to the bridal couple choosing this property for their wedding Feb 2012. The young people had contacted 3 resorts and this is the one that responded to their emails and phone calls in a timely fashion. The wedding planner Jazmine was absolutely great to work with and the whole wedding went off perfectly . Our guests and family were all of the same opinion that it was a beautiful wedding, lovely sunset wedding photos, fun evening with a 10 piece Mariachi band and fireworks on the beach. All in all was a no stress wedding day and what mother of the bride is walking on the beach the morning of her daughter's wedding without having to worry about everything?

We enjoyed the rest of the resort for the 2 wks we were there as did the rest of our party (14 rooms worth) so much that some are considering returning next year. I really don't have anything new to add about the resort that hasn't already been mentioned in other TA reviews.

The bride and I had a spa pedicure and classic manicure at the Norma salon in the mall attached to the Walmart close by. Costs $440 pesos per person (about $35 Cdn) and what a good job - better than here at home.

In summary, love the location of the Marival and with the Scotiabank ATM just steps outside of the resort it is real handy to get pesos. (Get a Scotiabank acct/dr card if you travel lots is my advice and hey I work at a competing FI).

Upon arrival at the Marival we were greeted by a very friendly staff. They held our bags for us while checking in and politely asked us to wait for a 10 minute orientation. We were taken over the usual - map, restaurants and activities the resort offered when all of a sudden you are getting pushed into buying a time share. BRUTAL! They want your money, not to give you a great vacation, even after I said that I have worked for a timeshare company in B.C. and know how it works, I very clearly said we were not interested and he then put a guilt treatment on us and said "you don't care about my family" "we are very poor people and for 2 hours of your time I can feed my children this month". Not the greeting we were expecting after a very long travel day!

The food is very good, with plenty to offer. The service was always great! The highlight of the resorts restaurants was the Mexican and not for the food for the amazing service we received from MILEY- She defiantly made our night!

If are planning on spending the day sun bathing plan on getting up at 7am to get a towel on your chair, otherwise you are SOL

Overall, good experience, but will defiantly go somewhere else next time.

Room Tip: Ask for a ocean or garden view otherwise your over looking caged birds in a parking lot.

Looking for a beautiful, safe resort for your next vacation in Mexico? The Marival Resort and Suites may be just what you're looking for!

My husband and I paid our first visit to the Marival in Nuevo Vallarta in 2009. Our daughters wanted to travel to Mexico for the first time this year and because we wanted them to have a trip to remember, we decided to stay at the Marival once again. The resort was as terrific as the first time we stayed. The rooms were clean, the staff couldn't be more helpful, the food was great, the beach is wonderful, and the variety of entertainment options were fantastic!

Having been to the area twice before, and enjoyed the Vallarta Adventures tours, we booked 2 tours for the four of us with them online before we went and saved 15% on the prices. If you book 3 tours ahead of time you can pay for two and get the third one free but we only had a week to vacation and the girls wanted to spend some of it by the pool. We visited San Sebastion and took in Rhythms of the Night. Well worth the price paid!

The al la carte restaurants are great .... no one comes away hungry! We highly recommend the Italian Amalfi and if you want flaming coffee served right at your table, the the La Palmas Mexican restaurant is for you! The buffet food is great as well but we found that the later we waited to eat the less number of times they refilled it .... solution ... plan to eat earlier, then we had no problems.

WiFi costs $10 per day but you can use the internet in the business center just as easily for a cost of $4 for 15 minutes which we found was plenty of time to check in with those we left at home. After all, vacations aren't spent in front of the computer!

The one drawback we found was the initial "trying to sell" long term stays which the resort insists is not time share. The best way to handle this is get yourself a drink from the lobby bar, sit back and let the representative make their pitch, then tell them you're not interested ... takes about 15 minutes or so .... and when you tell them you're not interested they do take it with good grace and back off.

My husband and I found our room to be a bit noisy after the Theater show as the Volare Bar in the Club Lobby has kareoke for about an hour and it echoes quite a bit. It does only last an hour and then it is perfectly quiet for sleeping. Our daughters had their room farther away and didn't hear a thing.

Overall, we had a wonderful time .... as good as the first visit. Our daughters are still raving about the fun they had and I'm sure we will all return to the Marival again!

Room Tip: The rooms smell a little musty at first but opening the patio doors for a bit helps.

We just returned from this resort for a 10 day stay. if you are into getting some extras like one would expect from a resort that is rated 4.5*, do not expect it here!!
Firstly, do not get rooms on the "Club Side"!! They are no where near the pools or ocean and they have parrot cages outside of the rooms that have a parking lot view!!
Do not expect good service. Out of the 6 or more resorts we have stayed at, this has been the worse. Inadequate staffing and lacking any time of customer service was very limited. Poolside service and buffet were by far the worse!!!
Do not get pushed into buying a time share. Pathetic and not classy whatsoever. They want your money, not to give you a great vacation.
The food is very good. I can say that with great honesty. The sad part was that you typically had to get your own coffee due to lack of waiters/waitresses!
The pools were warm and the rooms clean. The Club side is much older than the Grand so try to stay there if you choose this resort.
Do not plan on drinking anything at the resort that involves Kahlua. They don't have it!! In Mexico...can you believe it?
The beds are comfortable, balconies small and table top ironing boards!
If you want a spot by the ocean or by the activity pool, plan to be up at 6 AM as there are limited seats.
I could go on but I am so disappointed by both my tour operator and this resort that needless to say, we won't be going back!!!
