Hotel Serenidad is a slice of old Mexico - calm and gracious.
Traveling Mex 1 down the Baja peninsula is an other-worldly adventure for first timers. The hotels along the road range from exceedingly humble to pleasant surprises. Hotel Serenidad is one such pleasant surprise. It is clean, comfortable, and reasonable. We enjoyed a spacious room with generous lighting and an inviting king bed. The comedor (dining area) evokes the wonderful atmosphere of a Mexico of days gone by.
Most of the staff were warm and friendly, although one of the waiters needed to be reminded that customers like to be coddled just a little. The cuisine is Mexican and International and the portions are generous and good.
Hotel Serenidad is a family business, and Don Johnson, the patriarch, personally and graciously greeted the guests during our stay.
Nothing is perfect, and if you look for things to fault, you'll find some, but in general Serenidad is a great and relaxing place.
Free internet access is available in the lobby area and in the comedor.
