Arrived at Damson Dene for a 2 day break.what first strikes you is the beautiful setting. We were given a warm welcome at reception & set off to find our room. ((Room 55) It was a bit Heath Robinson trying to find it, but my goodness, what a lovely room. The bar area is very relaxing & all the staff at the hotel were genuinely friendly. The bed was very comfy, room was great, service excellent. Thank you to everyone there.

Room Tip: All the rooms seem lovely

Thanks so much for your lovely review and stay. We cannot get enough 5 star reviews! We're so pleased you enjoyed your room with us. The building is a sort of rambling one, given it's age, but the journey to the new rooms is definitely worth it! All of the staff really appreciate your wonderful comments about their friendliness and service. We all hope to welcome you back another time :)

Our stay at Damson Dene was fine, but did not live up to expectations given room rates. On arrival, we found that the hotel looked like it could have done with a lick of paint (some modernisation of décor would also have been welcome). Rooms were clean and adequately furnished, but again underwhelming compared to website / value for money expectations. The car park was fine though a little tight at times. The restaurant was rather overpriced for what it was: mains were priced at around £15-20; the bread rolls offered as we sat down we subsequently found out were charged at £1.25 per roll. Breakfast on the other hand was fairly good, with a range of foods on offer. The bar was also good - atmospheric with reasonable and locally produced pints on offer. Staff in general lacked warmth and personal touch.

Beautifully decorated room overlooking the garden, pond, ducks and fields. Throughly enjoyed our three course meal and breakfasts. The staff are really friendly but highly professional. Situated less than 10 minutes from Bowness - I timed it. Plenty of parking. All this and dog friendly too. We will be back!

Room Tip: Some rooms have been newly refurbished

We stayed here for 4 nights with our dog and it is an excellent base for walking in the lakes. It is away from the hustle and bustle of Windermere and Bowness but close enough for dinner.

The jacuzzi bath was great for after a long day walking and the swimming pool/ sauna/ steam room were very easy to access and often quite quiet. The bed was very comfortable and refreshments were stocked up daily!

There was a wide variety at breakfast which definitely set us up for walking for the day. Dinner was also good, less variety but they is enough that everyone is catered for and the food was superb!

Our room was near the stairs and the building is quite old so you can hear everyone coming up and down as well as the people in the lounge downstairs. We are deep sleepers so it didn’t both us too much but it took a bit of getting used to on the first night.

Generally staff were lovely particularly the people at reception and the gentleman with his dog!

Would definitely stay here again.

We stayed here as a mum and 2 daughters in a family room and 2 grandparents in a twin room. Hotel was clean throughout, food was excelkent (huge portions) and staff were excellent....particularly the Eastern European staff they couldnt do enough for me and my daughters.
The location is amazing. Yesterday morning my parents opened their bedroom curtains to see deer and pheasants in the field opposite. Gorgeous grounds with a duck pond and plenty of outside seating.
We used the swimming pool which was excellent (if a little cold!)
Perfectly placed to explore all the local attractions....(Blackwell House is a must!)
Only one thing marred our stay, another guest demanding my 80 year old disabled father to 'just move' when he was walking through the corridor....not the hotels fault and obviously why said guest was travelling on his own! Will definitely be back....lovely atmosphere for families, couples and dog friendly to boot.

Thanks so much for your visit and delightful, 5 star review. We are so pleased you had such an enjoyable stay here and really appreciate your comments about our staff and food. We love that you enjoyed our peaceful location too. Sorry about that other guest though, that really is sad behaviour on their part. There's no need to rush here in the Lake District, that's for sure. Anyway, thanks again and we will look forward to welcoming you back!
