“Great condo, but...”

PROS: The condo is very clean and nicely furnished. The owner was a pleasure to deal with re: reservations, questions, etc. The common area pools are very nice and well-maintained, although not heated. The bedrooms are spacious, and the beds comfortable. The king beds seem wider than US standards, which was nice. The kitchen area was great, with a large frig and with both oven and microwave, and also a nice washer/dryer stack-able unit, which was handy . No garbage disposer in the sink, though, so get ready to scrape your plates. The unit has a very nice balcony overlooking the pool with a partial ocean view.
OBSERVATIONS: 1) the beach area is very limited for the number of units it serves, and compounding this, the beach slopes severely to the water so the amount of flat area usable for beach chairs is even more limited. 2) there was a substantial amount of seaweed on the beach and in the water... attendants cleaned it up every few days, but couldn't always keep up. 3) there is a better beach to the left that guests can use, but be sure to bring a beach chair from Quinta del Sol, as there's a very disagreeable older woman who patrols the beach at neighboring Quinta Maya making sure only THEIR owners/renters use THEIR chairs, and isn't shy about evicting usurpers. 4) Kayaks were available, but no oars. 5) The ocean floor just off the beach is pretty rocky - water shoes are recommended - and stays shallow for quite a while out. 6) If you are so inclined, it is a short walk to the Omni beach bar where you can have a cocktail right on the beach. Day passes to use the Omni facilities are available. 7) The unit is in a planned community called Puerto Aventuras, which has a marina at its center. The community is looking a little tired and in need of common-area upkeep, but security is good - we always felt safe. 8) There's a community school that looks pretty run-down, and also a small naval base right near the Quinta del Sol units, that kind of ruin the "curb appeal," but they don't mar the view from the unit itself. 9) Puerto Aventuras has a town center with about 10 restaurants and a small number of shops. The town center is walkable from the condo, but golf cart rentals are also available. We enjoyed trying a different restaurant each night, and found the food to be fair-to-good in quality, although menu choices are limited to Mexican fare, pizza and a surprisingly ubiquitous selection of Italian food. The restaurant we liked best was the Hippo. 10) There is a dolphin experience in the town center lagoon that offers very little actual dolphin-interaction-time for the money.
OVERALL, we found the vacation to be a good one, and the Quinta del Sol condo to be an exceptional value. We never found a need to venture outside the Puerto Aventuras community, but along our drive down from the Cancun airport, it looked like there were other similar but more updated/upscale communities from which to choose. If the observations noted above don't concern you (and we found them manageable), we can highly recommend this unit.

Thank you for your review
1) yes the beach is limited in front of the condo, but they will correct that this summer. They will work on the beach slope and they will cover the rocks with sand. for now it is possible to swim a few steps away in front of the Omni Hotel.
2)The seaweed problem was all over the Riviera Maya coast last year. It seems to be better now.
3)The chairs do have to stay in front of our condo complex. When we go, we sit in front of the condo complex in our chairs and walk a few steps to swim and come back to our chairs afterward.
4)The oars and life vests for the Kayaks are in the Manager's office. You have to ask him to borrow them.
5) The rocks problem should be corrected this summer when they work on the beach.
6)You can also take a walk to the Dreams hotel and get a day pass. You will be able to eat lunch and dinner (à la carte) if you want.
9)There are at least 12 restaurants in Puerto Aventuras. If you have a car you can drive to Playa Del Carmen where you will find many more.

Puerto Aventuras is a nice safe place where you can relax!!

“Beautiful accommodation just outside of Playa”

Spent one week at this condo with my family after researching several places to stay. What we found was a clean, safe and well kept sanctuary in Mexico. The accommodations were more than adequate and the pool cooling after a long day in the Mexico heat. We did have my seventy something father with us, who found the lengthy walk from the condo up to the collectivo a bit much. I would recommend renting a golf cart to those who have a more mature audience staying here. Other than the hike, we found nothing to complain about at this establishment.

Thank you for your review. Renting a golf cart for mature people is a great idea and it is possible to rent them at the cafe nearby.
