This is a huge park, great to go cycling, running or walking. Lots of vendors in case you get hungry or thirsty. A family environment.

Our Trip to San Luis Potosi began in Mexico City where we took a bus (ETN Buses - inexpensive, SAFE and EXTREMELY comfortable, with touch screen tv with movies and games. We took the bus at midnight and arrived at 5:30 am) We took a local bus down town and we walked to through the city awaiting for business to open. We had breakfast in a "fonda," or tiny restaurant with "homemade" style of "comida corrida," or establishment selected meal for minimal cost. We walked and took pictures before the all the other tourist woke up!!! then took a tour on a historical trolly. We stayed in Casa Catalina and drove to Parque Tamgamanga in the morning for a GREAT RUN!! The park is clean and is just a delight for runners.

I stay next door to the park so visit it regularly. It is a massive green oasis in a city of concrete in an arid region. Cyclists, runners, family's having barbecues mingle with the wildlife. As a bird watcher this park should be on any fellow birders itinerary if you visit central Mexico. Many exotic flycatchers, egrets and cormorants. Plus a wide variety of dragonflies.

Park is closed Monday afternoons and observe the 20km speed limit. Well worth a visit any time of year.

This park is huge. My husband and I came here for a place to walk on a Sunday late morning. There are also places where a person can rent a bicycles to tool around on the flat roads, bring a mountain bike or 4 wheeler, play fútbol, feed ducks, fly your RC planes... There are picnic tables and barbecue grills tucked here and there. So, for city dwellers, it is a place to get some room to breathe and get a tree fix.
As a park experience overall, though, Tangamanga is so-so. The trees, although a welcome sight, were not planted with a sense of any landscape plan other than to cram in as many trees as possible, and most are introduced species like eucalyptus and pepper trees. Didn't notice any floral gardens. There was a "nature trail" that didn't yield very much information.
So to summarize, Tangamanga offers a lot of room to wander but it is visually uninteresting.
