“Lovely time on a working farm”
Reviewed 13 September 2016 for a stay in August 2016

My family and I stayed at Owslow Cottage for 5 nights. We received a very warm welcome from Dave when we arrived and always felt that he was there if we needed anything but he also left us to our own devices as he appreciated we were on holiday. The cottage was a lovely and spacious which was very well equipped for every eventuality. It was very clean and tidy and the welcome pack of wine and crisps was a lovely little touch. It was great to have a dishwasher and washing machine if you wanted to use it as well. The beds were all very clean and comfortable. The owners were also very accommodating as I had previously asked if I could receive a grocery delivery shop there which they had agreed too.
It was lovely returning from a busy day in the local area to be able to sit at the front of the cottage which was very peaceful and had a fantastic view over Carslington Water. Dave had said our children were allowed to use the trampoline in the garden which our children loved and really appreciated. One afternoon we were invited to go and feed the Llamas on the farm which was also a brilliant experience. There are dogs on the farm which my daughter absolutely loved and wanted to bring one of them home!
This farm is a working farm. It was great to be able to watch how the farm runs even if this did involve being woken up early by a huge flock of sheep that were being split from their mothers!!
My only criticism would be the owners young children were away for the first few days, but when they returned they were up and playing outside the cottage early in the morning which I do appreciate being a mum myself, bit it did actually wake us up which wasn’t great when you are on holiday and your children are a bit older now.

“Perfect Holiday Location”
Reviewed 5 September 2016 for a stay in August 2016

After returning from a wonderful holiday at Owslow Farm, I was reading through the recent reviews for this property and could not believe there was a recent 1 star rating. Surely there had to be a mistake! I had to double check that it was definitely for the right place, as this was the the polar opposite of our experience.

Please don't let this review cloud your judgement, as the standard of the accommodation, the location of the farm and friendly welcome from the owners could not be faulted. This is a perfect spot for a relaxing holiday set in beautiful countryside, with easy access into the Peak District. The cottage has all you could possibly require whilst away, the beds are extremely comfortable and the local area has plenty to keep you occupied. The farm animals are friendly and it was lovely coming home to the happy welcome from the dogs and cats every day.

Although a quiet spot, this is still a working farm with all the sounds, smells and sights which this brings, so don't expect to be left all on your own, it's not that kind of place. The owners are on hand if needed and are very happy to offer advice or loan maps, guide books etc, but if you'd prefer to be left in peace they will not intrude. I thoroughly recommend this property and the hospitality received from the owners. We shall definitely return again as we could not have been happier with our stay.

We had a lovely weekend away for my birthday. Very romantic. The views of the country side out of the main bedroom window was just amazing. We spent a day in Matlock as it was just a few minutes down the road. We also had a lovely meal at the pub just up the road from the cottage where we had a brilliant meal and not to far to stager back if you've had a few. There was loads of attention to detail upon arrival we were given a bottle of wine and some luxury crisps which were very much needed after a week a work and driving to the cottage. This is a real gem and we will definitely be coming back at some point.

Super standard of accommodation in a lovely renovated 400 year old cottage on the southern edge of England's best national park.

Surrounded by so many wonderful attractions this working farm is a sanctuary to visit with Natalie and her family very welcoming.

We will definitely be returning for years to come.
