This is definitely what a B&B should be. A beautiful house set in tranquil countryside but only 5 minutes from the beach. Luke, the Manager, was on hand to greet us, showed us round and then served us a full cream tea. The room was tastefully furnished with a large modern bathroom and views across the fields.
There are two sitting rooms, one with a large TV, and an honesty bar that should cater for all tastes.
Breakfast, a huge choice, all nicely prepared and served at a large communal table.
For a B&B this puts a lot of hotels to shame. We will definitely be going back.

The Vean is set in beautiful countryside and is as tranquil a place as you will find. The staff could not be more helpful and from the moment you arrive, nothing is too much trouble. From advising on the best places to eat to booking Taxi's, nothing was made to feel as if it was an effort.

On arrival, once unpacked we were given a complimentary cream tea which was lovely. We were blessed with extremely good weather which made it even more beautiful. There is a beach about 10 minute drive for which you are given a free car park pass.

One thing to be aware of is that there is nowhere to eat or drink close to the property. You will have to drive or get a taxi. The dive to Mevagissey is about 20 minutes and the taxi fare is about £25 each way.

Would definitely stay again.

It has a clean sweep of 5 star reviews and for very good reasons.

From our initial contact by phone, through to being greeted by Luke Tyler when we arrived early. To be then treated to the most delightful cream tea served by Luke - a most engaging host, as were all the team. Beautifully restored throughout it sits in deep and beautiful countryside. Restoration was from the ground up and it shows the owners commitment to perfection in every aspect that we saw.

Other reviews suggest that the first floor bedrooms are of a better quality than the top floor. We stayed on the second floor and it lacked a dressing table mirror! Still though a beautiful room. Absolutely nothing was too much trouble for this team dispensing wonderful breakfasts to order. Plus ideas for visiting plus locally and taking care of dinner reservations.

Simply gorgeous we enjoyed three fabulous nights and will return.

Room tip: Not really check on bedroom location perhaps - this is minor in the grand scheme. All have wonderful views.

Having just returned from the most luxurious weekend, I felt I should share how amazing this place is. Set deep on a beautiful countryside estate, that hosts weddings shooting events and corporate events.
We had a 2 night stay which can only be compared with the luxury of Downton Abbey.
The host looked after us from our arrival. Luke could not have been more helpful or welcoming. The house has 8 rooms but we were the only guests and had very attentive service. The estate allows guests of the Vean, free access to Caerhay gardens in the grounds of the castle.
Breakfast was a lavish mix of fresh fruits, cereals and full english breakfasts using locally sourced products, served as you required it.
We were given lots of information as to where to visit and eat.
Well worth a visit for an amazing experience. Thanks again Luke !!

Room tip: We had a view which was over fields where we witnessed lambs born. Most rooms have great views

Perfect place for a long weekend, for either enjoying the warmth of the welcome, log fire and great food the on-site team can prepare or walking, heading to local villages and great country pubs before relaxing in the tranquil setting of the Vean. We booked it as a group for a party of 11, with Nicky working with us to create a lovely menu on two evenings and a buffet on the third night. Staff are very flexible on arrangements for a whole house booking over a weekend, price compared favourably with similar places. We all shared making breakfasts and brought our own drinks with us but equally there is a good wine list and plenty of options if you use their supply. Tucked away not far from St Austell and Truro, this secluded 8 bed house is located on the Caerhays estate. Things we loved: the first floor rooms are all great, large open with en suite and sash windows overlooking the estate; second floor have sloping ceilings but are en suite although being up at the top of the house do not have as much light.

Walking the estate was lovely, especially with Spring flowers beginning to flower; has it's own cove and beach that were beautiful.

Other places nearby we all loved - going to Portloe for lunch, typical fishing village with a good pub, the Ship Inn for a lunch (the Lugger is more upmarket and is right on the harbour, worth going to based on all the recommendations made to us). Also went to the Kings Head, Ruan Lanihorne for Sunday lunch, good service and food.

Beaches - Pendower Beach, 20 minute drive, wide, sandy and plenty of space and good walks

Negatives - difference in room quality between first and second floor

Top tip - make sure your route in is well planned, can be difficult to find on a dark night without any phone signal!

Room tip: Nancor on front corner is a gorgeous room with 3 large sash windows
