Great house for large family or group of friends. But need to be fit enough to climb the hill and the steps up to the house. Lovely sized rooms. Good kitchen and laundry facilities for a seaside holiday. Lovely views of the bay and great outside terrace.
We visited Cornwall for a wedding and a group of us (8 children and 2 children) stayed on in this house for a week, which fit everyone easily with room to enjoy meals together inside and out on the great decking area. Safe and secure for children, with everything you need for a comfortable stay. It's also in a great location to explore Cornwall - we made visits to St Ives, Perranporth and Falmouth. Porthtowan was actually our favourite beach we visited during our stay - not too busy, great for surfing and some beautiful sunsets - just a few minutes stroll down the hill from the house. Like others have said, our only area of consideration would be that the house could do with some TLC, but this didn't detract from the great time we had at Seaforth!
We booked this house for 2 families, mainly due to the location. And it really didn't disappoint. Halfway up the cliff road, it's perched on the side of the cliff and has amazing views over the bay/beach. It's just a short walk to the beach itself, and there's even 2 pubs on the way!
The house itself is very comfortable, very spacious, and very well equipped; absolutely everything you'd need for a great stay (and more) is provided. There's parking for 2 cars. There's loads of outdoor seating space, and areas for kids to play inside and out.
It's fair to say that the house is perhaps no longer as smart as the pictures. The front has seen it's share of coastal weather, it has a lived-in feel, the hedges are somewhat overgrown and obscure the view from the decking..... overall it's probably in need of a little TLC (hence the pictures/comments on a previous review, although in our opinion these were very harsh!). HOWEVER, I would really not let this put anybody off, it remains a lovely characterful house, and we would recommend it to anyone and would happily return ourselves.
Overall it's very comfortable, loads of space, and the location could not be beaten!
Three families stayed at this property with children ranging from 8-18 years in August 2016.
Although the location was great, just a short walk to the beach the condition of the property was disappointing.
Broken glass in the 1st floor bedroom window
Peeling exterior paintwork
Weeds growing in the guttering and patio area
Broken electrical socket in child's bedroom
Broken garden furniture and soiled cushions
Inadequate recycle bins which meant seagulls caused a lot of mess
Broken tiles on bedroom vanity basin
Balcony structurally unsafe.
General accumulated grime, cobwebs and damp patches, dirty carpets
Although most of the complaints were sorted out by the letting agency based in London we had considerable disruption to our holiday waiting for work men to fix windows, boilers, electrical sockets, it wasn't the relaxing Cornish break we had in mind.
If you appreciate clean, well managed accommodation then this is not the property for you.
We were down from Yorkshire for my daughters wedding and as I have a big family, we needed somewhere big enough to cater for all of us. Sea forth was perfect for this! We spent most of the week in the garden where we enjoyed our family time together but the lounge was perfect for the wedding day preparations. The garden was perfect for the grandchildren to play and the trampoline had many a fun moment for them. The house was perfect for the stay and right from the start we felt welcomed with the freshly made scones (what a wonderful smell to be greeted with) and the wine. The maintenance man came to fix the gate and the handrail up to the upper garden half way through our stay but he couldn't have been more accommodating to what we had to say. The bedrooms were luxuriously large enough for what we needed.
All in all, what a perfect house for a perfect week. Will be coming back for sure!
