Spent a week at Dormouse Cottage - 2 adults, 2 dogs. Beds very comfortable - sofa not so much. Great kitchen (I have kitchen envy). Garden lovely - nice area to sit and read in the sunshine. Beach amazing - clean and beautiful, really enjoyed the daily dog walk on the beach.
Parking a bit tight - managed to scrape my car on the neighbours wall one dark rainy night in my haste to get off the road and out of the way of oncoming traffic.
Shower head could do with replacing - water flow was a bit low and not helped by a bit of limescale on the shower head. Also just 1 large opening window in the bathroom so neighbours get a bit of an eyeful - bathroom gets very steamed up as no fan installed and I didn’t want the room to get too damp.
We stayed in Sea Palling a few years ago when the Star pub was still open - didn’t realise it had shut - visited the Reef bar just the once before realising it wasn’t really my cup of tea. Chose instead to drive out to the Fisherman’s Rest and Winterton a few times for lovely dinner - thoroughly recommend it.
A lovely, well situated (2 mins walk to amazing beach) house that was perfect for our family of 3. It's been well modernised, rooms are spacious, the kitchen is a good size and well stocked, and the lounge felt like a home from home.
Off road parking and a convenience store across the road made practical and really useful differences.
We loved discovering the area and fell in love with seals at Horsey, a 5 min drive away but there's so much to do and find in this part of Norfolk and Dormouse Cottage was a pleasure to return to each evening after a day of activity.
Located near the local store and just a stroll away from the beach, Dormouse Cottage is an ideal place to stay. In addition to the sandy life guarded beach there are many attractions within reach such as the broads, Wroxham Barns, BeWilderwood, Sheringham with its steam railway to name but a few. The cottage itself was very well kitted out including toys for the children. If the grass had been cut it would have been even better.
Clean, modern, superbly well equipped. Yet still homely and comfortable for a winter stay. Family with grandparents and two boys seven and three appreciated the entertainment left for the children and how well the kitchen worked. Parking was no problem as double yellow lines on all nearby streets only apply May to September. Village shop 20 yards away and a nice stroll to the beach with a cafe open even in February.
With good weather we hired a boat at Stalham and walked to see the seals at Horsey Gap. In the rain the children went ten pin bowling or played on the Wii provided.
My family of two adults and two children (age 5 and 6) stayed at this Cottage for a week during the Easter holidays and again for a weekend in November. Both times, we had a lovely stay.
The house is spotlessly clean, well maintained, modern but comfortable, spacious and well equipped. The house looked freshly painted with neutral decoration. Everywhere (except kitchen, bathroom and conservatory areas) is carpetted with a plush feeling carpet.
The lounge is large, there is entertainment for us and the children (some toys, books, tv, Wii, internet/wifi). We were warm there at Easter and in November.
The kitchen is clean and modern, with plenty of space for a family to eat. We cooked and ate there most evenings. In fact the whole house is very well equipped, from every piece of kitchen equipment you'll need, to hairdryers in every bedroom.
There is a downstairs toilet as well as the main bathroom upstairs. There is a large walk in shower, so very easy to wash two youngsters after a day at the beach!
The bedrooms are spacious and have lovely oak furniture (beds, wardrobes, bedside cabinets, chests of drawers), and very comfy beds with what looked and felt like new mattresses - a good nights sleep had by all.
The house is in walking distance of the beach (dinner from the fish and chip shop, eaten on the steps at the beach went down very well).
We also had several days out whilst at the house. We hired a self drive boat at Wroxham, enjoyed the farm and funfair at Wroxham Barns, went to Bewilderwood (only 30 mins away) and Dinosaur Adventure Land. Overall, had a fantastic time both times we stayed there, we recommend this house and would definitely come again. Thanks to the owners for a lovely stay.
