My husband and I just spent 4 nights at the Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos and here is my honest review.
Location: Hyatt Ziva is located directly on the beach, 20-25 minute drive from Los Cabos Airport, 10 minutes to downtown San Jose Del Cabo and about 30 minutes from Cabo San Lucas. While the beach is not advised to swim in, it’s great to have the beach accessible to walk up and down in the mornings/evenings or to lay out in the hammocks or cabanas on the beach. Also, the resort seems to be in the nicest area around — there is a super beautiful grocery store and mall walking distance (5 min) across the street where you can buy anything. Very convenient.
Transportation: the resort does not provide transportation but it really didn’t matter. We used Uber’s the entire time and never did we wait over 5 minutes for one to arrive. We paid about $15 each way between airport and Hyatt. We paid about $25 each way to Cabo San Lucas and back. And about $8 each way to downtown San Jose Del Cabo and back. Getting an Uber to and from the airport was incredibly easy… don’t listen to the taxi companies at the airport who will tell you it’s illegal to use Uber, or that you have to walk a mile to pick up an Uber outside the airport. It’s not true.
Food: food and drink was wonderful and of course, everything was completely included in cost. We did tip extra but that is not the expectation. There are currently 5 restaurants open - Steakhouse, Mexican, French, Teppanyaki and Buffet. There’s also a sports bar with tons of TVs, snack bar, other bars… and best, the 24 hour coffee shop with pastries, smoothies, sandwiches, and the best ice cream that you MUST have. The minibars in the rooms are stocked daily and included in all-inclusive, as well as room service which we shockingly didn’t use once because we were so damn full from all the other options.
Service: this was the highlight of our trip. We couldn’t stop talking about the people and how incredibly kind and amazing everyone was. Literally, everyone. There were a few standouts that I have to mention because they made such an impact on our positive experience — Alejandro (server at the Infiniti pool) 🏊, Margarita (hostess at the Plaza Buffet), Emilio (one of the managers that hooked us up), Kelly (check-in) and lastly sweet Cristina (server at Plaza Buffet). Give those people a raise! :)
Activities: first of all, we were there on Sunday for Mexican Independence Day and the Hyatt threw an INCREDIBLE celebration. I’ll post pictures but I was completely blown away… so much food, gorgeous setting and great entertainment. They truly went all out. I would plan my trip back to the Hyatt Ziva for this holiday again in the future just to experience this special event again. We also used the gym twice which was well equipped, clean and quiet. We did water aerobics and went to a show in their giant theatre. They have an extensive entertainment calendar every day that would make anyone happy, should you choose to engage.
Accommodations: we stayed in a swim-up room in building 3 facing the adult pool. We decided to upgrade from a balcony room when we checked in and glad we did. Room was large with a living area and large balcony with chairs in the water. The bed and pillows were very comfortable which is so important to me considering I’m 7 months pregnant. Probably my only real complaint about the resort is the pool hours. All pools are open 8am-8pm, so you can’t use your swim up pool off your room after 8pm. That was a little disappointing.
Construction: I read reviews for weeks and almost switched my reservation to Dreams because I was so worried the construction. Let me say this… I would rebook a vacation at the Hyatt again for next week if a could. The construction did not impact our stay in a negative way. Right now the lobby is under construction, as well as the building on the left side of the pool. You definitely hear construction happening at the main pool but they had music and activities that make it okay. No construction noise in adult pool area and no work on Sundays.
