We were not informed of the massive renovations going on at the property when we booked or of the massive closures -- restaurants, kids pool, etc. We found out by going through the website bit by bit. We noticed that some guests didn't find out until they got there. Either way, it was too late to cancel. The only pool children could go to was so LOUD from construction noise (tile removal in a building) and the competing sound systems that it was unpleasant. Not having the kids area open made for a stressful time for our family members with kids. When the current building is done, they are probably going to start on other buildings so this could be happening for a while. Shut the resort down, do all the construction at one time, and pay employees salary while its closed. That way, the resort can be fully functional. Communication is terrible on a daily basis also - the digital "concierge" is frequently not accurate and not updated. No one knows if restaurants are open/closed or what time various activities are. It was posted in one location that Yoga was at 8:00, in another at 8:30. No one at the front desk knew. The French restaurant didn't appear to ever be open, limiting dinner choices even more. Communication is so incomplete, that when I received a Hyatt survey about our stay, there were questions about places that were not open at all.

Room Tip: Major construction going on and closures.

The hotel is in need of over all up grade but Reno’s were too noisy to be completed while open. Cleaning staff and Chef’s need additional supervision. Staff and supervisors at Cortez restaurant and pool side were excellent and others could learn from them. Luis at the pool was always friendly and provided excellent service. Gym was hard to find and yoga was not taking place on beach as advertised. Entertainment team were excellent but music was too loud when added with the jack hammers from construction.

The only good thing about this resort is the staff. From the moment we arrived at the resort, we felt bamboozled. We had specifically chosen this resort for the kids’ slides and pool- yet no one had bothered to let us know that they were under construction and closed. So too were a quarter of the restaurants. Had we known any of this, we never would have booked here. The construction was loud, making it hard to relax and the food at some of the restaurants we ate at was basically inedible. Overcooked chewy octopus you could choke on, “Caesar” salad with stale bread. The buildings need a huge facelift and the workmanship was shoddy. The best part of our vacation was when we were not at the resort.

Although the property and staff were great, we were not warned of the renovations going The only reason I am extremely disappointed is the fact that we were not made aware of the renovations being done to the property. And I'm not talking about small cosmetic renovations. I'm talking closed down a whole wing and closed kids club and most importantly the water slides. We specifically booked this resort with the thought that our kids (our group had a total of 10 kids under 10) would be playing on the slides, etc. Instead we had to bring extra floaties to make up for them having to swim in a deep pool. Also the constant noise (jackhammers, pounding) while sitting by the pool didn't constitute a vacation for our entire group. Also the walls were so thin that we could clealy hear the people next to us talking. The whole experience left a sour taste in my mouth and I honestly would probably not be choosing Hyatt resorts out of the sole purpose of them not really caring that they hadn't let us know upon booking that we weren't going to receive the facilities and services which we thought was offered.

We stayed here for a week in an oceanfront 2-bedroom suite on the second floor. The room was very spacious for our party of 5 on a girls trip. The 2-bedroom suites feature a king room, a second bedroom with two doubles, a pull-out sofa in the living room, 2.5 bathrooms, dining area, mini-fridge and two balconies. The units do not have kitchen facilities.

With this property's all-inclusive model, there are plenty of restaurants to choose from. The only thing you pay extra for is the spa and premium proteins (lobster, tomahawk steak, etc.). We loved the teppanyaki at Dojo (the Asian restaurant)!

The location is excellent, the property is well designed and well laid out with a lavish resort style and feel. The surf in front of the hotel was rough and not conducive to swimming while we were there (June), but the sandy beach is beautiful and perfect for relaxing and walking.

Part of the resort is undergoing renovation and the resort was at about 50% occupancy during our stay. I would imagine it might seem crowded at full-occupancy. We were always able to find lounge chairs by the pool, although people stake out their favorite chairs as early as 6:00 am. There is an adult-only pool that is quieter than the main pool area with delicious tacos! There's also a taco truck at the main pool serving a larger variety of tacos, also delicious! There are a number of daily activities from water aerobics, to pool games, to sports - something for everyone.

There's entertainment at night (dancing, theater shows, disco night, etc.) and music playing poolside throughout the day.

The best thing about this resort is the staff. Always friendly, smiling, accommodating, and very helpful.

The resort is about a 1.5 from downtown San Jose del Cabo. Highly recommend the Thursday night art walk! Security is top notch here and we always felt safe.

We would stay here again!

Room tip: The pool lounge chairs at the main pool and the infinity pool are popular and people start snagging chairs as early as 6 am.
