We've stayed at several Secrets resorts, and while all have their own personality, they all share an overarching theme of adults-only, good food, good service, and top-notch rooms. Secrets tend to attract people who are probably 30-60 and like to party a bit, but like upscale service and amenities.

Secrets Puerto Los Cabos is more spread out than most Secrets properties, but not overwhelming by any means. The rooms are spacious, but not huge. Our favorite rooms are at Secrets Silversands (Cancun) as they are large with twice the balcony size of Cabo. The gym was okay, but I wish they had a bit more free weight selection; I imagine at capacity it would be overflowing.

The day we arrived was the last day of a corporate getaway (sales trip) so the place was packed, and apparently the pool was shut down to the guests. This did not affect our trip at all, but I would be pissed if I paid for a vacation and couldn't use the pool. During our stay the March 26-April 2, 2017 the resort was about 50% full (except that first day).

Our poolside waiter everyday was Abelardo and he was incredible. By the end of our stay, he was taking care of a large group of people we had met and who congregated by our chairs. He had the timing down perfectly that as I ran out of beer, he had another one on the way. He remembered our names everyday and seemed genuinely thankful for the nice things we said to him as well as the tips he received.

There's some confusion as to whether or not you can smoke. When you check in, they tell you that you can smoke anywhere but in your room or balcony, but there are really no ashtrays setting out except in designated spaces. I smoke cigars and this didn't seem to be a problem, even in the pool.

Dining: This property has El Patio (Mexican), Himitsu (Japanese & hibachi), Oceana (seafood), Market Cafe (breakfast buffet), Portofino (French), Barefoot Grill (poolside burgers & dogs), Coco Cafe (24-hour coffee), Seaside Grill (casual lunch). The only one missing was the French restaurant that's at other Secrets resorts, which was disappointing because that's very good food. As always, the hibachi grill is one of the best meals, but you need to setup reservations the day of your meal... get there as close to 8:00 am as you can to make your reservation because even at 50% capacity, the spots went quickly. Oceana looks over the preferred pool and the view is gorgeous. The Italian is a bit disappointing (not bad, but not up to par with the other meals) but the Mexican is very good with a cart of higher-end tequila available for purchase. The breakfast buffet is vast, but if you're there for a week or more, I think you'll get bored. And the service at breakfast is not up to the standards of the other restaurants... my wife was pouring her own mimosas.

In some Secrets resorts, the preferred upgrade is worth the money, but I don't think that's the case here. The preferred lounge is nice, but it's not a full breakfast, more of a small cups portion. The preferred pool is gorgeous, but seemed a little stoic compared the main pool.

We did not golf, but spoke to people that did and they said the course was perfect. You can see it from pretty much the entire resort and it is indeed in pristine condition. The golf was pricey, and they looked for deals but there were none to be had.

We loved our stay here, especially the service at the pool (thanks Abelardo). We liked it so much that we decided to join the Secrets Unlimited Vacation Club (or whatever it's called) and had a great experience with Rafa and Billy during the sales process. I'm in sales, so I don't mind people actually doing their job, I actually admire it; and they did their job well. We have joined the Secrets family and are excited to check out even more properties.

Room Tip: The ocean views are worth it, but preferred club is not.

Currently staying here now....day 3 and so far SPECTACULAR!!
Have never stayed at a Secrets before but will be doing so again....we can now see why most people RAVE about this fabulous chain of resorts.
Everything is TOP SHELF here, the food, the booze, and the awesome staff!
The staff go out of their way to ensure you are having the best stay and will accommodate almost any need or desire within reason!
We will be staying here again without a doubt!
Staying in building 2 on floor 3 looking out over the golf course and ocean...just gorgeous!
Swim up rooms are nice, BUT they are all ground floor with a view of other buildings as well as zero privacy from anyone walking by....higher the floor, better the view!
The food is also VERY good, from the Market Cafe(buffet) to the Italian(we ate there last night) very delicious!

Our first time trying a Secrets resort - booked last minute to celebrate our anniversary. We were impressed with all aspects of this resort, including location, views, room size, comfort and amenities, the food, entertainment options, and most of all the service! All staff we encountered were friendly, professional and trying their hardest to deliver the best experience possible - especially Pedro at the Market Café, Aldo at Oceana, and Pedro at Rendezvous. The eConciege Sharon Niebla made the first great impression by arranging the beautiful room in building 3 with a wonderful view and quiet area, plus several nice gestures on behalf of the hotel for our anniversary. We have done several AI's in Mexico, and this was our third time to the Cabo region which we really enjoy. This Secrets resort exceeded our expectations in many ways and we highly recommend it.

Room Tip: Don't pay more for swim-outs-no privacy and most look at the back of other buildings. Regular rooms on higher floors have great views.

The resort is clean and breathtaking!! My husband and I had a wonderful time and met many new friends. Sandra (honey bunny) at Oceana pool was so sweet and always made sure our drinks were full and the guests were happy. Mauricio at the bar was very intuitive as well. Cesar Olvera, pool concierge, went above and beyond to answer guest questions, made sure we were being taken care of, if we needed anything he would do his best to help us. I just can’t brag enough about the staff!! The food at all the restaurants was very good. We will definitely be booking another vacation at this resort!!

I have been away to many tropical destinations, and Los Cobos twice before and stayed with family.. But we have never stayed a at resort before in Los Cabos. WOW 10+++++ it was amazing, we were blessed to have stayed in the preferred section, and we had outstanding service. The Weather+++++ was fabulous, Los Cobos is in the desert, with dry warm air in the day, and it cools down at night comfortably so wear a light jacket or sweater, and guess what no BUGS++++++.And it doesn't rain very much at all, perfect climate. Another little thing I loved, and have never had seen before was the idea you could open your patios doors and there were screens, it was so lovely to sleep at night, never have I had that luxury anywhere on vacation!
Oh and by the way I am (Celiac) gluten free diet, much to may surprised every menu I opened had something to suit my dietary needs. I also had a fantastic relaxing massage at the spa! I will be back, I would love to make it an annual event!
Thank you for the exceptional service!

Room Tip: The Preferred Section is much quieter, and you have your choice of the quiet pool or the much more party type pool
