Kind and attentive service. Excellent food quality and generous quantities. The atmosphere and experience is the best. The staff and management made our enjoyment their highest priority from every level of the service team.

The One and Only Palmilla is a fabulous resort in an amazing location. The rooms were large and clean. We were easily able to fit a family of 5. The pool was beautiful and they provided toys for the children to enjoy. The beach was also well maintained and had chairs and great service. We used the butler daily to help with reservations and any small issues that came up. The only reason I did not give the resort the highest score was issues with obtaining pool chairs and getting fast service poolside for food and drinks. Also, an email prior to arrival to help book restaurants would be appreciated. Hopefully these issues will be resolved soon. We would definitively come back for another visit.

Dear Valued Guest,

Thank you for bringing your family to our private peninsula for an unforgettable vacation. Between our spacious suites and the choice of our swimmable beach or sparkling pools, we hope your family made wonderful memories together. We also greatly appreciate the feedback you’ve shared here. Your suggestions make sense and we will certainly take them into consideration. We cannot improve without hearing from our guests, and we value these ideas for pre-planning meals and ensure speedy service by the pools. Thank you again, and we look forward to next time.

I travel a lot, but have not written a review in quite a while. I felt that I should here, as it will be very easy to write and also because there is a bit of trepidation among many to visit Mexico.
Despite initial fears about traveling to Cabo (and Mexico) for spring break, we had an amazing trip with absolutely no safety issues. Security is great with a manned guard gate specifically for the hotel and its guests. And for going out to dinner and to excursions, the hotel will arrange transportation for you. The One and Only does a spectacular job with customer service, dining, safety, and overall resort management. Cannot say enough about how well we were taken care of while there. I chose rooms on the Turtle Beach end of the resort closest to the Villas Del Mar neighborhood, as we had friends staying in a villa there and I wanted the kids to be able to walk back and forth. We were in building 26 (Casa Miramar) and had rooms 2614 and 2615 on the ground floor. Rooms were fabulous with great views out over the grassy lawn to the ocean - one was a suite with large living area and the other a king room. We were able to close the main door and have the rooms "connect" through the vestibule. Due to room category, we were assigned a butler who was fabulous with setting up reservations for dinners, activities, spa appointments and arranging transportation (car service and taxis) as well as generally shuttling us around the resort. He offered to unpack/pack luggage as well. He brought us cocktail snacks and made us cocktails every evening that we were in the room. I could go on and on here - place is wonderful, service and food are top notch, restaurants are great, people are friendly and helpful, boutique is stocked well, etc.
We were traveling with one 14-year old boy, so I do not have knowledge of younger kids activities or the kids club but One and Only was sitting up what appeared to be a stellar Easter extravaganza! A great place to vacation - you will not be disappointed!

Room Tip: Pelican beach rooms will be a bit louder/busier while rooms along Turtle beach will be a bit more quiet.

Dear Valued Guest,

We are so pleased to have welcomed you to sunny Los Cabos for spring break. We are also glad to read we assuaged your fears about the area. Our town has so much to offer—history, culture, beauty—and sharing it with our guests is something we love to do. Our visitors never need to fear for their safety, as security is a top priority for us. It is wonderful to know that you all had a fabulous time getting to know the standard in service we provide at One&Only Palmilla. We hope you can join us in the future for another vacation, perhaps when we are hosting one of our unforgettable holiday celebrations.

This is (I believe) our 7th visit to O&O Palmilla. It's that good! The grounds, service, food and accommodation is always 6+ stars. Over the years, there have been enhancements such as a swimmable beach, beach cabanas, expanded spa, fitness center equipment, among others. While this is not an inexpensive property, once you arrive, they don't nickel and dime. Cabanas are complimentary first come, first serve. Water sport activities are same - all included in your room rate. Plenty of bottled water and glass cleaning - it's the little things that add up. Of note, restaurant prices are creeping up so be aware or get a meal plan. Suviche is our favorite - we ate there twice. Breakfast at Aqua is not to be missed, with a beautiful morning view, healthy options as well and traditional Mexican specialties. We are already talking about our return visit next spring!

Dear Valued Guest,

What a delight it was to read this amazing review. It means the world to us know that the improvements we’ve added over the years have made your stays that much more fulfilling. We agree that the small gestures are as important as the “wow” factors. Furthermore, you are correct in that the meal plan has and continues to offer the best value if you plan on enjoying all your meals with us. Thank you for all of your kind words. Until we welcome you back next spring, please take care.

Wish someone had told us about the foot massages – you have to be there at 9:30 am to make an appointment and there are only so many slots. One complimentary 15 min massage at the pool per stay.

Grounds are well kept and the staff here run like a well oiled machine. Everything from our bags delivered to our room and checkout with baggage pick up and timing for our car to the airport was run so smoothly. All the staff we encountered seem to genuinely enjoy what they do. Wifi was strong throughout the hotel.

You don’t need:
• Bug spray
• Sunscreen – there’s spf 30, 50 and 70 by the kids pool
• To worry about bottled water – its in plentiful supply and included
• Hair dryer
• Converter – they use the same voltage as US

You do need:
• A beach bag – the one they provide you to borrow is awkward to carry and isn’t shaped to be a beach bag. I’m not sure if it’s a messenger bag or a tote bag with handles facing the wrong way. The bag they give you if you purchase something in the gift shop is better, sad to say. Other top notch properties happily give you one to keep.
• Long pants and button down shirt for men and no cutoff shorts for women – if you’re going to dine in Seared or Seviche. Also no flip flops.
• To get to the pool early if you want a chair with a view

Pool: You have to get here early if you want a prime spot. But there are pool attendants who will set you up with pillows and towels as well as bottled water on ice and a pool side mist. Excellently located. We saw breaching whales from the pool on multiple days. They blow a horn to let the whole hotel whales were sited.

kids pool: while we didn't use this because we left the kids at home, they had an awesome area for kids with a little splash pad and mini waterfall the kids could walk over, as well as a bridge you walk over. Made us wish we had the kids with us....almost

Spa – it’s beautiful and you don’t need to book a service. There’s a hot tub and a cold pool as well as some saunas. Its beautiful and lush and they serve a digestive tea complimentary as well as some sort of energy cookies and these delightful dried pineapple chips. Complimentary yoga and other classes in the gym at various times.

Food:
Suviche : quality of the fish here is excellent, service was excellent. The only thing that wasn’t spectacular was the Alaskan Crab Maki and the Unagi Maki – two of the more expensive rolls on the menu and I couldn’t really taste the crab (also, its really small considering it’s a $65 roll) and the Unagi roll was ruined in my opinion by the salsa? That hid the flavor of the eel. Unagi is usually one of my favorites, but this was a fail. The O-toro was excellent as well as the tuna with truffle. Dessert here was good – we had the warm chocolate cake with matcha ice cream and the strawberry mocha Sunday. The mocha texture was a little strange – not soft, but slightly cake-y? The strawberries and the strawberry ice cream and sorbet was deliciously fresh.

Seared: We had the seafood tower (everything was really fresh and sweet) with the oysters being a particular highlight due to whatever sauce they have to accompany them. We also had the octopus appetizer which I was really looking forward to, but was a little disappointed in. It was really tough and not soft on the inside like it could have been. We also had the meat sampler that included two lamp chops, a small piece of tenderloin,
Sides: Corn, Brussels sprouts and the baked potato. Corn was delicious but the Brussels sprouts fell a little short of my expectations. They were soggy and didn’t have enough of an acid with them. The baked potato was just two baked potato halves with large pieces of bacon and cheese on it – I kind of like to mix everything in with my baked potato and this wasn’t really possible with the size of the bacon on this topping, so for me this was also a fail. Dessert was delicious. Some sort of Corn soufflé and the usual Grand Mariner Soufflé. Both delicious with excellent texture and sides of ice cream.

Aqua: if you are a party of 4 or less, you can make reservations for the seaside tables. These are quite lovely and are half circular booths that look out overlooking the water. We had the buffalo mozzarella and tomato appetizer as well as the foie gras appetizer. Both were ok but nothing spectacular. For main course, I had the paella and husband had the short rib. Both very good and generously sized. Dessert was the lime tarte (meh) and hubby had …I don’t remember, so must not have been memorable.

I highly recommend doing the meal plan – we met a couple who had been here three times before and didn’t know about it. It’s well worth it. Emailed concierge before we arrived. Food prices here are astronomical- easily twice what you would pay in the US at a very nice restaurant. We are talking $16 chips and guacamole, $10 for orange juice fresh squeezed, $40 for a Caesar salad and $65 for a crab salad. An 8 oz petite filet minion was $115. We paid $120 per person per day for breakfast and dinner. Breakfast was easily $100 total per day and Dinner was $350-$400 per day. Drinks are not included in the meal plan.

Room: Very nice. There’s a bed and sitting area that’s quite large. King size bed with a full size sofa and flat screen TV. The best part is the bed out on the patio that you can relax in. The shower is large enough to fit more than one person – it has two rain shower heads! Very nice. Water pressure and hot water availability was excellent. They make the room up while you’re at breakfast. Your choice of nuts and snacks are delivered around 4pm and they do turn down service somewhere between 8-10pm. The butler did offer to unpack for us, but we declined. They did press 4 garments per person and shined my husband’s shoes. Soaps and shampoos are generously sized. Provide incense in the bathroom – haha, but there’s no tub, which was not an issue for us.

My only issue is that the bed was not very comfortable, which took away from a 5 star rating – bordering on hard even. I like a firmer mattress and it was a little uncomfortable for me. I have stayed at other top hotel resorts and their beds are usually heaven, so this was a little disappointing. They advertise a pillow menu but I didn’t see one. I did ask the Butler for a foam pillow, but we never got it. I suspect that they don’t have one but I never heard otherwise.

My other issue is that I believe there was some miscommunication with our final billing, but we are currently in the middle of resolving that.

Dear Valued Guest,

Thank you for this informative review, both for us and, we hope, for future guests. We were glad to read that you found so much to like, from our tranquil spa, to the close encounters with whales, to the chaise lounge on your suite’s balcony. We also greatly appreciate the detailed feedback you shared regarding your meals, which we will pass along to our culinary team for review. Your insights are helpful and will assist us in providing the best for our guests. We have made note of your thoughts, for instance, missing communication about the complimentary foot massages and the pillow you requested. If we have the pleasure of welcoming you back someday, we are confident we will not miss a beat. Your bedding can be adjusted and we can accommodate you in a suite with a tub, if you prefer. Again, thank you for your review, and we look forward to our next chance to serve you.
