First let me state I like CVBR. So, this really is an informative FYI that should help you if you decide to stay at CVBR. As an vistor since 2003, I have seen this place change for the better in some places and stay the same in others. So, let me address some things you need to know.

- If you stay at CVBR you should know overall the property is nice and clean.
- CVBR is located right on Medano Beach which does make it easy to go to the beach. CVBR is located between Casa Dorado and Hotel Hacienda.
- CVBR also is behind The Office, Billigans and Mango Bars.
- Book your airport transport thru Cape Travel. This way once you land and get through customs you can get right in your van. Don’t wait till you get down. Taxi’s are like vultures looking for gringo’s like you.

With that said lets get you informed with CVBR.
Now, for room selection. If you get a room(s) with a pool view be sure to ask for building #2 or #3. Building #2 faces Hotel Hacienda and has its own pool. Very quite. Building #1 faces a smaller pool and is a bit older and noise is not too bad. If you take a pool view in building #3 be prepared for excessive noise from their music all day long. They blast music from this pool area until 8pm and it’s open to screaming kids. If, you take a room(s) in building #3 ocean view ask for floors 3-6. This will get higher and less noise again from their music (Baja Cantina). DON’T get floor #2 in building #1 or unit 1109/1110. These unit are some of the worst in the entire complex. Another bad floor overall is building #1 pool/ground level. No privacy at all and pool water splashes constantly.

Once you check in CVBR now has a quasi-mini bar in the rooms. This means they have put in your room things they think you may want both on the counter and in the refrigerator. The prices for their items are over- the-top. I recommend if you plan on doing your own stocking ask CVBR to take all of the stuff out of your room before you get settled in. This will save you a BIG headache later on when you check out. If, you don’t, I recommend you take full inventory of all items and take pictures for verification. Trust me, this will be good CYA.

If you are going to CVBR on your own or using someone’s timeshare be sure to ask for NO TIMESHARE PRESENTATION or BUILDING #2 WHICH THEY WILL PUT YOU I N A CRAPPY ROOM. CVBR, has to honor your request. If you want some freebee’s out of going to a presentation then ask for breakfast all week and a dinner. I have heard of others getting a dinner cruise too.

Restaurants-Beach use:
So, CVBR has a deal with Baja Cantina and Baja Brewing 10% off. Baja Cantina is on the beach. Best time to go is in the AM when their music is smooth Jazz. By noon, it changes to load music that they say has to be load so they can drown out Billigan’s music. Be sure to use the right side lounge chairs if you are facing the beach. They do have the area roped off from beach vendors, so pick a lounge chair in the middle to avoid vendors. Do not take lounges in first row. The vendors will talk to you all the time. Beware, if you do drink, you will pay a lot for drinks more than if you where at a bar. Tip here, bring your own beer/water in a bag with ice from your room (use the plastic laundry bag or new trash bag from the room). Then, ask server for a bucket. Charge everything to your room and make sure you get a copy of the receipt. Another CYA when you check out. Towels are free to use. Be sure to return them and get a copy of towel use. Baja Brewing is not bad great views just nobody around. Your better deal would be to go into town. You cannot charge to your room on Sat since that is check in-out days.

FRI/Sat will be the loudest at CVBR. Music can last until 2am. Internet is ok but slow WIFI. Only 12 TV channels. Not sure why since the bars have SKY TV. They have dinner shows all week. Some are ok others just go to town. Eat at Baja Cantina and see the shows for free and get better meals then what they are offering for the show. The best waiter/ bar tender is Martin at the top pool bar. He makes a great Mojito. Bring him a Music DVD and he will treat you like a king all week. Some other staffers on the other hand could care less about you and your vacation. The Spa is over priced. You could get better deals at other resorts. They do have a mini mart now. The beer is actually cheaper here then the resort. Go figure. If I can be of any more help shoot me an email Daniel@msplusinc.com or I can save you a bit on renting units down their. Our Bayview or Ocean Front 2bd/2bth cheap for the week.

We were asked on beach to attend a timeshare,in which we met all requirements etc .. offered a 150 cash and 60 dollars in dinner certificates, kinda wanted to see for rci exchange , location etc. After touring became apparent that property wasnt maintained well and was a stair nightmare since it has all been built in different times. made a few comments along the way about our dislikes .our timeshare guy kinda got rude, sat us down left us to go to the office manager ????? We told him we had no intentions to buy etc. he was abrupt rude and told us to leave. after 95 min. so we did , went to collect what was promised, and were told the sales office called and said we were uncooroperative, and wernt entitled to anything ... We heard later this has happened to others. DONT ATTEND THIS DUMP..........................

We came to Cabo Villas on an introductary certificate and loved everything about it. We have several timeshares and did not buy here, but they did not pester us-they were very professional and friendly (we met with Sean and Tim). We will certainly return and not mind the 90 minute presentation!

To begin, I saw the reviews here prior to booking and did not know what to think. They were very hot and cold about how much someone loved ithis place or how much someone hated it.

We received my wife's parent's timeshare as part of our wedding present. We traded their St. Maarten condo for Cabo Villas through Interval International. After reading reviews of how timeshare owners were treated and the quality of rooms they received, we were very nervous to book here.

Basically there are three towers; the original (Tower A), one that was added to the original some years ago (Tower B), and the newest one (Tower C), which opened in 2008. I use letters to keep them straight throughout this review. Tower C is 2-4 bedroom condos only. Since we traded for a 1 bedroom, we were to be put in either Tower A or B. Previous TripAdvisor reviews stated that all timeshare owners received the original building A, which was in dire need of renovations. This is how our worries surfaced

The reason for review discrepancies about this hotel is room inconsistency. The original tower A has non-renovated rooms which are not pleasant (see photos) while Tower B and C rooms are very nice.

I recommend this hotel only if you can receive either a renovated room in tower B or C. I asked the desk of the original tower A renovation schedule, which was going on during our stay and they stated they would be complete by the end of the year. However, I am not sure of the extent of the renovations. If they make the original tower rooms look like the new rooms, great, no worries. If they simply paint and leave all the old fixtures, I would be hesitant to stay in the original tower.

Everything else about this resort is standard for a Mexican vacation. Very nice, lots of booze, sun, relaxation. They have a very nice pool (although in the afternoon, the sun is hidden by the west tower), the staff is top notch and the location is much better than the mega resorts in "The Corridor"; which is driving distance to the town.

Pros:
-Very close to downtown (walking)
-Smaller, quieter and less commercialized
-Three unique pools and hot tub (infinity, lap-jacuzzi combo pool, original with waterfall)
-Staff is extremely nice (Antonio at the pool bar especially)
-On the beach
-Close to many restaurants

Cons:
-Room renovations inconsistent
-Not ADA compatible, very steep ramps, lots of stairs
-Resort is smaller, which means during busy season, it may be a madhouse

We have stayed in Cancun, Riviera Maya, Ixtapa and Puerto Vallerta. I would compare Cabo Villas to a personalized neighborhood grocery and the large resorts in the other locations to more of a Walmart or Target; if that analogy is clear. If you like the smaller, more quant hotel, this is yours. If you want a mega resort with water slides, this is not the resort for you. There are physically nicer ones in Cabo, but not for the price, location and personalized service as this one.

Couldn't ask for a better location and amenities! Overlooked the infinity pool with swim up pool bar and while I was concerned about the location upon arrival, turned out to be the place to be. Being on the 2nd floor we didn't have the best ocean view but that didn't matter. The private beach is well serviced and had plenty of lounges and umbrellas. Be sure to go to the beach bar and hop up on a swing seat, just be careful - falling in the sand is embarrasing, right sis?

The pool bar was the best - met a lot of fun people who we did things with during the week. Great drinks - Dirty Monkey anyone? The staff there was excellent and wish I could remember all of their names, Genaro, Roberto - didn't have poor service from any of the staff.

The grounds are meticulously maintained and the staff works around the clock to make sure everything is perfect. Is very apparent Cabo Villas takes customer service very serious and works to hire the highest caliber staff.

Pizza at the Baja Brewing Company was the best but need to be sure to ask for it 'crunchy' or the crust is a little under done for my liking. If in the mood for fish and chips, those were great, also.

Negatives: the three of us consistently had problems with opening the door and had to get our keys replaced multiple times. We are sure there was a problem with the card reader and that was a real pain the entire time. We attended the Mexican Fiesta and were sitting with friends who were promptly served their salads. The remaining three of us did not get our salads, my husband got tired of waiting and left. When I finally got a salad the show had started and the croutons were soggy. When my entree arrived the fish was cold. The staff was quick to bring me another serving but by that time, I wasn't interested in eating. My sister ordered the filet and shrimp and while the shrimp was tasty, the steak was cold and then when she asked for a new filet, they didn't bring a filet but a lesser cut of meat. Very disappointing and I would avoid the theme dinners. The menu is limited and prices are increased. The internet service was disappointing - only one computer per room was allowed to be online wireless. With three of us in the room, would have liked to have had both our computers up and running. Also, a couple of times we had to call down and obtain a new access code which was a hassle.

End of September/beginning of October is a great time to go if you want to avoid crowds, families and young people partying till all hours. The guests ranged from their 20's and up and everyone was so friendly.
