“Fantastic Resort”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 April 2012

Stayed at PB Sunset Beach for two weeks in March 2012. Weather was fantastic, the humidity of the summer months hadn't come in yet. This resort is beautiful and so well maintained. There are flowering shrubs and flowers everywhere. The rooms are immaculate and very large. (Better than any other place I've stayed.) We were in a 2 bedroom 2 bath the first week and a one bedroom 2 bath the second week and both were very nice. Every unit has a balcony with a view of the Pacific ocean. The maids come in daily and clean your unit until it shines.
Service is a top priority. The staff is here to help you and make your vacation a great time. All the staff I encountered went out of their way to be pleasant and helpful!! The other thing about this resort is security! It is a gated resort and every vehicle in and out has to check in at the guard station. I never felt at risk here.
The resort is built on the side of a mountain and is very hilly. If you're in shape or want some exercise you can walk up and down the hills from your building to the main lobby area etc. OR you can call for a transport cart to take you to your destination. Just call from your room and by the time you get to the front of your building the cart is waiting to transport you. A few times we had to wait a minute or two for the cart but this was rare. I had stayed here several years ago and we waited a long time for the carts. PB has obviously improved the cart service and it is now a great feature.
There are pools (including one adult only pool) all around the reosrt (I think 9 pools) and you can use any of them. You CANNOT swim in the ocean at PB Sunset due to the strong ocean currents. (You can swim in the ocean at PB Rose, sister resort.) All have towel booths so you don't have to lug your big pool towels with you for the week. All the pools we went to had pool bars where you could order drinks, light snacks or lunch. Try going to the "Sky pool" at the highest spot in the resort that overlooks everything. Unbelievable view.
There is an "all inclusive" option that we tried for three days and it was very reasonable. We like to try other restaurants and eat at home some nights so we didn't want to do more than three days. It was a good value for the money, especially if you like to have a few cocktails which are included.
The resort is a bit far away from downtown Cabo but there is a shuttle, which runs once an hour, that goes to the sister resort, Pueblo Bonito Rose. You can walk to downtown and the marina area from there if you don't mind a little walking. If you don't want to or can't walk far you can still take the shuttle to the Rose and then take a cab downtown for about $6.00. A cab from PB Sunset to downtown cost us between $10.00 and $12.00 depending on where we went. To take the shuttle bus you do need a ticket (free) that you get in the main foyer area. The last return bus of the evening gets full sometimes so be sure to reserve your return spot when you get off the bus upon arrival at the Rose.
If you like to cook and plan on buying groceries take the shuttle to Rose and then take a cab to Walmart from there. Stock up for the week and take a cab from Walmart back to the Sunset. Prices are reasonable. You will not be able to take groceries on the shuttle bus between resorts. The cab fare from Walmart to Sunset was around $18.00. The prices at the small resort market are very expensive! There is also a Costco and Sams Club in the area but we didn't try either so I can't comment on them.
There are actvities at the resort but again, I didn't partake, so I can't comment.
It was just a great, relaxing vacation surrounding by a breathtakingly beautiful resort. I love it here!

Room Tip: All the rooms are beautiful and have an ocean view. Many people enjoy rooms closer to the ocean so...

My husband and I stayed at this resort to attend a family wedding in March 2012. We purchased in advance the all-inclusive package for several days. The package was seriously misrepresented and the service was horrible while we were on the package. Per the hotel's agreement, we terminated the package after 3 days. We paid for the 3 days in full. After our return, the hotel decided to charge our credit card for another guest's all-inclusive package in a different room even though the hotel knew who the guests were and had their credit card. They also overcharged for these guests' all-inclusive package. These guests and the person who arranged all rooms for wedding guests spoke with the hotel on a number of occasions told the hotel that these charges are not authorized and that the hotel was overcharging. The hotel obviously ignored them. What is worse is that the hotel never contacted us about the fraudulent, unauthorized charges. We have now been put through the hassle of disputing the credit card charge.

Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach was the perfect setting for our 25th wedding anniversary. With a choice of 6 pools, one being adults only, was fabulous. It was a truly relaxing week. Another great idea by PB is the all inclusive option! It was so wonderful! Already booked my stay for next year!

Room Tip: There isn't a bad view on the property! We were in building 20. Although it is far from the be...

My wife and I visited this resort Feb 22-29. We had pre-paid for our 7 night stay through Hotwire and thoroughly enjoyed our time. The Hotel was beautiful and well maintained and our experience with the staff while we were there was positive. We saw whales pass 20 yards away from the edge of the beach and even enjoyed 3 days of the all inclusive experience and enjoyed all the restraunts at the partcipating pueblo bonito properties. We travel often but always keep a tight budget. Our all inclusive experience was made possible because we got a good discount for going on the resorts timeshare tour, which was suprisingly low pressure
Now to the problem, about 3 days before checkout ,through the TV we accessed our balance for our trip to that point. We noticed we were being charged a nightly rate for our stay. We went to the front desk talked to the nice but inexperienced woman who checked us in. She got the manager, who showed her the mistake she had made at check in.The manager removed the charges and assured us it was taken care of. On checkout day after a very enjoyable stay we signed a credit card bill for just over 400 dollars for the discounted 3 days of all inclusive, a meal and drinks at the pool and a one way shuttle to the airport.
A couple of days after we got home we noticed 3 different charges from the hotel one dropped off , but there were still 2 left. One was for the 412.00 we signed for and the other was for 974.00. We called the hotel and they acknowledged their mistake, they said the would call back the next day but never did. To make a long story short we have since called back many times, depending on the time or day we are either told someone will call us back and never do or they acknowledge the mistake and say they will send it to their, manager, supervisor, accountant etc.. and call back but they never do. We even got Hotwire involved who also reassured us it would be taken care of but it never was. I now have to spend my days off this week with the credit card company filing a fraud claim. While I believe this started as an innocent mistake, but not correcting a 974.00 mistake is something else, and because of this it has spoiled my experience and I can't reccomend a resort that uses that sort of business practice.

Room Tip: Looking back, Cabo feels safer than some other resort towns in Mexico and it probably would have bee...

I had been eyeing PBSB for a few years as a possible exchange thru RCI and I finally booked my first stay! Thanks to TA, I had done plenty of research and arrived armed with a map of the property and had already requested specific buildings via email with Mr. Doidge, GM of PBSB. Upon check-in, I received a high building near the sky pool as requested and when I additionally requested a top floor unit, my wish was granted! We so luckily were placed in building 22 on the 9th floor! Our 2BR/2BA (what we traded for) was spectacular and more spacious than my own home! We had the pleasure of scoring a Super Presidential which included the jacuzzi tub on the balcony that stretched from both BRs and the LR and afforded lovely views! Everything about our room was in great condition and still looked newish. The beds were comfy, complete with feather bed and a pillow menu (a quick call to guest services got you a choice of 5 different pillow types), the toiletries and linens were of good quality and we had more furniture than the two of us could possible need!

The resort was large, but since it is built on the side of a hill, upwards, it didn't feel crowded. Buildings were spaced out nicely throughout the property and while they do provide golf carts that will whisk you wherever you'd like on property (and they will arrive within minutes after you call), we often opted to walk up and down the resort. I only see walking a problem if you are out of shape or elderly. Some people on TA complain about the fumes from the golf carts but it really isn't an issue-those few are just looking to nitpick. The resort offered many activities everyday (mainly at the main pool) and each pool had it's own personality. We tried 4 of the pools and preferred the vibe of the sky pool up top. Just enough energy (music) but never loud or rambunctious.

Loved the location of the resort since you are not in the thick of Medano beach yet can take the free shuttle that the hotel offers to their sister resort, Rose. From Rose, you can either walk Medano beach to the Marina or opt to take the back side streets behind the resort to the main drag, which is about a 15 min leisurely walk. The only thing that is a little bit of a nuisance is that not all of the streets on the back roads have a sidewalk, but there isn't heavy traffic either. We usually took the shuttle to Rose and then a taxi back, which runs about $10-12, depending on your negotiating skills. We did not partake in the all inclusive plan as there were way too many restaurants that we wanted to try in town.
