My wife and I had a great day of fishing 10/30/11 on the 28 ft. Andrea with Orlando and Nicolas. (I believe Nicolas is a captain who was subbing in for the usual mate that day.) As we were heading out, Orlando asked if we wanted to go for marlin, tuna or dorado. Since it was our first trip out, we were looking for fish to take home and said tuna, and they delivered in spades. After a bit of a slow morning, we got into the tuna hot and heavy, with 2-3 strikes at a time. Thankfully, the Andrea has 2 fighting chairs, so we didn't have to use the belts. We ended up with 19 Yellowfin for the day, most 20-30 lbs., 2 around 50 lbs., and the largest weighed in at 62 lbs. Needless to say, it was a great first day of fishing in Cabo. Our coolers were full, and we could go after bigger game on the next trip (review to follow).

Pisces is a top-of-the line fishing outfitter, and I have fished from Hawaii to Bermuda, and many places in between. The boats and equipment are clean and well maintained. The crews are extremely experienced and professional. There is good contact within the Pisces fleet as to what lures and locations are hot on that particular day. Orlando and Nicolas on the Andrea were efficient and professional, and had no problems working with my wife (a novice fisherwoman) despite the fact that she speaks no Spanish.

P.S. I know it is called fishing and not catching. This review is based primarily on the quality of the service provided, and not the fact that we happened to catch lots of fish.

My dad and I chartered a full day (with beer, water and lunch, fish cleaning, etc... full deal) on the La Brisa (I wanted this boat because of the reviews and the fish reports showed it was successful) and it was epic! Once we got to the boat we were asked what we wanted to fish for and we wanted some big tuna but the dock master and the captain said we would go out far and that we may not get anything so we just told them we wanted to catch something to eat - they replied 'Darado?' (Mahi-Mahi) and we said yes - let's get some of that! Although it seemed we were late getting out on the water (the captain stop by the marina quick-mart) at first, the Captain opened the boat up and we caught up and passed most of the boats that started before us and within an hour of leaving the marina we had two fish on! We then commenced to catch 14 darado (one got away) and nearly reached the limit (10 per) and we were getting tired of reeling all these fish in... Needless to say it was exciting and we came home with 25 lbs of mahi-mahi each (we gave the captain and his mate a fish apiece).
1) if you can have someone drop you off at the harbor and pick you up if you can
2) tip is not included - count on about $140 for full day
3) you should spring for the beer/water/lunch package - also, they had sweat rolls at the harbor in the morning
4) the Captain had 'broken' english and I know a little spanish so be aware of that...

This is our second time we used Pisces for our fishing trip in Cabo and once again we were highly successful. We went out 2 times and while the weather was choppy and rough, we brought in 2 large Dorado in rough waters on day one, we brought in 2 striped marlin and a Dorado on day 2. Fantastic service from the office to the dock to the boat captain and crew - we go with La Brisa. They always have the client in mind. The marlin we released, 2 of the Dorado we had them freeze for us and we carried it back to Canada. Not a problem bringing it on the plane or through customs. Highly recommended, this is a classy organization. Box lunches are also fantastic.

After reading TA reviews, we chose to use Pisces as our charter company in Cabo San Lucas. The boat leaves at 6:30 a.m., so we were up and very excited for a day full of fishing! Unfortunately that day our excitement was short lived. We felt that our crew was very uninformative and did not work very hard to put us on fish. In 8 hours we did not catch a single one, and spoke very little to the fishing staff. But you will see that the title of this is Great Customer Service! After an unsuccessful day at Sea, we visited with the Pisces office staff about our concerns with the Boat's Crew. The fact that we had not caught fish was not as disheartening as the fact that we did not feel our crew had done their best to get those fish. The Pisces staff worked with us to arrange another day of fishing with a new crew! The second crew was hard working and very personable, and although we only caught 1 fish, we really enjoy Pisces commitment to helping us have a good experience while in Cabo. We did get to see Marlin jumping out of the water, which was amazing, we were just not able to hook one! Thanks Pisces for righting a wrong!

Spent USD$650 on 28 feet Andrea on 8/5, 8 hours on the high sea with 2 children, non stop trolling, and guess what? got nothing . not even a single bite. Especially after the skipper told you they got 1 marlin, 8 dorado and 4 tuna the day before at exact same area with no significant weather change . Any seasoned fisherman will pop up the question, are they fooling you or what. We used 0 bait for all the money spent on the live bait. What a shame for Cabo Fishing.

We are very disappointed that you did not catch fish too. It is a matter of pride for our crews to come back with flags flying. Trolling is the regular fishing method for big game here and the live bait is generally used when they see marlin up on the surface, which they cast to the fish. Trolling allows you to cover more area, so if you are in an unproductive area you can move on to a hopefully more productive one. When fishing with live bait, you have to troll much more slowly. Dorado, tuna, wahoo and marlin will all hit on lures and even on the same type of lure, which does not hold true for live bait. So by trolling you are improving your chances of catching a variety of fish. If they crew caught fish in that area the day before, it would make sense that they would go back to where they had success. The crew want to catch fish as badly as you do, they do not enjoy going for a boat ride either. That said, I believe we gave you everything we said we would . A clean boat in good working order, good tackle, an experienced & polite crew who stayed out the allotted time. I checked the fish report for the day you were out and one other boat did not catch fish either. We understand that this is very disappointing, but there is no guarantee of a catch, unfortunately.
