We stayed in Ardfyne in the last weekend in February and despite the weather being awful we had a great time. The location is perfect and the drive through the mountains to get there is almost worth it on it's own. Then you come to this beautiful house on the banks of Loch Fyne and it is stunning. There are a few finishing touches needed but nothing significant and certainly nothing was too much trouble for the couple who let the house to us.
We had a large family from adults of different ages and one child and the house was perfect for us all to get together.
We had a great time and it's one of those places we would love to return to.
We rented this home as two families for the February half term.
The booking was really easy and the owners extremely helpful and pleasant.
We arrived at the house after a long drive and your immediate impression is WOW, what a lovely looking property in beautiful grounds set just back from the shore of Loch Fyne in the village of Strachur. We were met by the owner and given a tour of the house.
Facilities here are fantastic, everything you'd need for a group of 10 ( a bit more crockery and pans would be useful), excellently laid out and acres of room that meant even though we were a large group there was always places to skulk off to. Most bedrooms were en suite and the one downstairs has an adjoining bathroom so no shortage of WC's or showers. Beds were comfortable but not luxurious, nevertheless more than ample. The shining crown for this house is the second lounge upstairs, what a delight, just two sofas looking out over a balcony to the lock....superb and the best place in the house.
To sum up, it is clear that this house is the pride and joy of the owners and a huge investment of time and money has been made to extend and renovate this house, although I would say the house does need some finishing points...some doors don't shut and small minor jobs to complete.
The location, accommodation size and views make this a fabulous vacation home and we will no doubt return.
Just one thought tho, 2 doubles and 2 twins would suit this property size better rather than 3 doubles and 1 twin...saves kids arguing. Ideal when the property is being shared by two families.
Very well appointed property stayed for a week with children and grandchildren and Tilly the spaniel.Had a great time house a great size and had everything you could possibly need.local pub and restaurants are well worth a visit. If you are looking for a relaxing holiday l would recommend this as a place to stay we will hopefully return.
We had a wonderful stay at Ardfyne with extended family visiting from New Zealand, starting with a warm welcome from the owners in person. The house is lovely and was a very comfortable size for all 10 of us. We loved the upstairs deck and amazing views over the loch (and were blessed with super weather) and there was plenty of room for us all around the dining table each night. The kids also loved playing pool in the games room. Lots of little touches really impressed us, like the complimentary towels and linen and handwash in all the (mostly ensuite!) bathrooms, and plenty of comfy chairs and bean bags for lounging around.
The area itself was also fab, very beautiful, and we could have spent a lot longer exploring. We'll just have to go back!

Fantastic break in this fabulous house. Beautiful , big, luxurious accommodation with everything that we could have wished for available. Fabulous kitchen with double ovens and grills. This made catering for the whole party a piece of cake. Sitting on the porch taking in the gorgeous scenery with a wee glass of wine in hand was a taste of heaven. Owners approach is friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back.
