We stayed here in August and it was delightful. Breakfast with two donkeys, five cats and a dog and sharing the long table with fellow guests on an outside terrace overlooking the gorgeous scenery of the Marche. The views from our pleasant (tiny en suite) were knockout. Great to have a full size fridge in the room and the ceiling fan was brilliant too. The pool an absolute Godsend in the heat of August. Paulo as host could not have been nicer and the highlight had to be truffle hunting with the lovely cocker spaniel "trulli maus" and then eating freshly dug truffle on pasta that evening. The local lunch of bruschetta with anchovy paste and burrata and fresh picked tomatoes with a glass of frizzante was so simple but delicious beyond words. If you're in this part of Italy a must visit. If you're not - worth a detour!

We revisited Ramuse in August after four years and wondered why we had left it so long to return. It's such a beautiful spot, the food is amazing and the house has been restored to a very high standard (including the compulsory earthquake-proofing measures people have to make when they restore properties in Italy these days).
Paolo took us truffle-hunting, we managed to find 16 of them, which he then turned into a delicious lunch for us all. It was the best day of our holiday.
The children loved the donkeys, the five cats, and of course the star of the show, Truffle-Hunting dog Trilly!
We won't leave it another four years before we return again.

Italy is always full of happy surprises and Ramuse certainly filled our expectations. The old family house restored beyond its former glory has become a haven for visitors, big and small. Six bedrooms decorated in a rather monastic style, with traditional materials (travestino tiles, wooden shutters, hand made pottery bathroom sinks) and with some great views over the Sibilli mountains and the nearby Force village up on a hill. Here, the only noises you will hear will be produced by the cats yawning in the sun, the two donkeys strolling by or even the host's beloved truffle dog, Trilli, all very well behaved.
Paolo's passion for agriculture, eco-friendly environment, locally produced fruit and vegetables comes out with the dishes he lovingly prepares. All very simple but organically grown, many from his own garden. You will taste the home made jams, the fresh pasta spiced with the garden herbs, the cakes prepared with vino cotto (a mulled wine) and served for breakfast. Twice a week, Paolo comes up with delicious scrambled eggs (from his own hens). Everything is jolly, true to life and one cannot help leaving Ramuse with a refreshed sense of happiness. We took with us a few bottles of the Ramuse olive oil, produced with Paolo's Ascola olives. I wish I could have bought more but alas one is limited by weight on Ryanair flights ! And do taste the wines on offer : there is a small selection of what the local vineyards grow but very well-sourced.

I loved this place. I went to Italy for a long weekend, and stayed two nights here. I was travelling on my own, but it's impossible to feel lonely at Ramusè. Paolo's awesome - very relaxed about my early arrival, very hospitable. He strikes exactly the right balance between being a seriously knowledgeable and hard-working agriculturalist, and a warm and friendly host. I normally can't stand cats, but the ones at Ramusè have lovely personalities and kind of do their own thing. Favourite moment: opening my door in the morning to be confronted by a donkey. The food and company are great, and the setting is beautiful. The bed was much more comfortable than my own bed at home. I'll definitely return.

My partner Rosie and I spent a wonderful four days here whilst house hunting. We got slightly more than we bargained for as we experienced our first earthquakes - once at Ramuse (followed by aftershocks) and once in a nearby restaurant (October 26). So in addition to the wonderful scenery, comfortable living, swimming pool, lovely homely room and excellent cuisine, we discovered that Ramuse is completely safe and earthquake proof.
Nearby small towns such as Force are truly idyllic and the larger town of Ascoli Piceno a real find - full of the richest culture and stunning mediaeval architecture. A trip to the coast is easy too - it takes about 30' to get to the lovely seaside resort of Grottamare.
This area has everything that Tuscany has, except it is still largely undiscovered and a good deal quieter.
Paolo is a fantastic host, nothing is too much trouble, and his cooking is just fantastic.
Back to the earthquake. No-one should be put off visiting this wonderful place. As we discovered - it is completely safe, and everything else more than compensates for being a little "shaken - but not stirred!"
