Our stay at this beautiful and well-maintained home, made our trip to Isle of Skye a memorable one. The location was absolutely scenic with lovely backdrop of cliff, greenery, cattle, sea and sunset. Really, enjoyed sunset during our stay in the garden and it was one of the best moments. The location of cottage is well placed to explore most the attractions. Most of all, it is best place to relax and forget world for few days.
From our experience, I could say that cottage is recently refurbished with brand new decor, kitchen appliances and other home amenities. It is true to the description of the property and facilities gave us great comfort and relaxation during our stay.
In every aspect of the home, there was great 'attention to detail' to provide comfort and luxury. I highly appreciate Graeme and Janet for their 'attention to detail', particularly in providing information about local amenities, places to travel and restaurants. The kitchen was fully equipped with cutlery and cooking appliances, which was highly impressive. Also, there was Netflix, lots of books, CDs and in-house games, providing complete entertainment.
Though only me and my wife stayed here, the cottage is for complete family. It had three bedrooms (one twin beds for kids) and every room is very tidy and well-maintained. Our best time was enjoying our view near 'window seating' in kids room at top, while cherishing rest of time in lounge looking towards the sea. It would make a perfect home for family holiday.
Thank you once again for making our trip a memorable one. We would definitely love to come back again.
I am tempted not to review this cottage just so that it doesn't get booked up and we can go again (!) It is a wonderfully equipped, immaculately clean and comfortable home in a perfect location. Our late evening journeys up to Uig to watch the sunset were rendered quite unnecessary as we could watch it from an armchair, with its gorgeous view over The Minch. And the kitchen is so beautifully equipped and laid out, it was a pleasure to use. A really lovely place.
Just wrapping up a wonderful week long stay at the Aurora House in Kilmuir on the Isle of Skye. Never judge a book by its cover and that goes the same for this property and judging based on the photos on Tripadvisor. The property is far nicer than what is shown in the photos.
Upon arrival, the house looks small but upon entering, you will find a very nice sized living room with two very comfortable three person couches and a television. Large, well stocked kitchen and dining room. Also on the ground floor is a bedroom with an en-suite. Very spacious ground floor. On the upper floor are two large bedrooms. All three bedrooms have very comfortable beds. Also on the upper floor is a bathroom.
The house is in perfect condition. The fully stocked kitchen with new appliances was very convenient and allowed the five of us to eat in each night;. Also enjoyed a few nice evening outside looking out to the sea and watching the sunset.
We frequently stay at holiday cottages and easily rate this property as a 5 star!! We highly recommend it and will be looking forward to booking again on our next trip to the Isle of Skye.
The location is wonderful, beautiful view and nice and quiet location. The house it self was very nice and spacious. We really recommend this to everyone.
We stayed at West View on a family holiday with grandparents, a 2 month old and a 6 year old. The weather we experienced was a fairly typical mix of summer weather with a couple of days of glorious sunshine, a couple of wet and windy days and a bit in between.
The property itself is warm, clean and well equipped for a group of 5 adults, child and baby as we were and would still feel comfortable and spacious at full capacity. I am quite allergic to dogs so given dogs are allowed to stay at the property I expected at least a mild reaction but found it to be so well cleaned that I was absolutely fine. We cooked all our own meals in the kitchen which is large and provided all the equipment necessary to cook for a large group i.e. large saucepans and frying pans etc. The dining room has a lovely large table which was used not only for eating but also for board games and card games in the evenings. When the weather was less than pleasant we finished our days early and came back to the comfortable living room and managed to see a bit of the Olympics and the weather forecast on the satellite TV. The property has a washing machine and tumble dryer which were put to good use with all the washing generated by the children!
The location is beautiful in particular the sea view which we were able to see in all but the very worst of the weather. We saw the ferry (presumably between Uig and Tarbert) and on the clear days we could see Harris from the house. The house was visited by a bat one evening which we watched flying laps in front of the windows catching the moths attracted by the lights on in the house.
In the local area there are many places to visit, we certainly didn't exhaust the possibilities in a week. The owner, Karen, has very thoughtfully compiled a list of suggested activities complete with maps for walks and the top drawer in the dining room is full of local brochures, maps and generally useful tourism information.
