This was the second time we’ve visited Eweleaze. We were in Upper Beach field in a bell tent. The tent was large enough for our family of 4, which includes 2 teenagers. On arrival it was clean and tidy, and comes with bedding, a lantern, chairs and fire pit outside.
The views from this field are simply incredible. A photo just wouldn’t do it justice. I saw and heard countless people walking over the brow of the hill to see the view for the first time, and all were stunned by how fantastic it is. It’s a busy bay too, lots of yacht sailing out of Weymouth, P&Os berthed cruise liners and various army/naval helicopters skimming the hilltops.
The campsite too has great food/drink services too. Fine dining in the converted barn, a large beer tent and various food outlets serving most tastes - on site bakery, veggie food, pizzas, coffee house (supposedly with WiFi but I couldn’t access it). Prices compare with what you would pay on the high street, although some of the items in the shop are a bit pricey. A previous reviewer noted it’s £3.50 for 6 eggs, I said the same thing when I was there.
It can be a noisy site, so isn’t for people wanting a quiet or peaceful stay. But for me that’s it’s charm - it’s got an energy and buzz about the place, with people from all age groups and backgrounds.

We have been to Eweleaze twice and it is a really pretty campsite with good facilities - the food is great and reasonably priced, laundry excellent, nice to have a stony beach and feels rural but is very close to places to visit and can walk to Weymouth. Arts and crafts stall and yoga nice. There are down sides though - lots of large party oriented groups shouting until about 11pm. We struggled to get our daughter to sleep so much we needed to move and met two other families who had done the same. Lots of unattended children, for example 7 year olds left completely alone in story time shouting and throwing things and ignoring requests to stop by the reader. Kids roaming in packs at worst bullying other children on the hay bale playing fields - there was a 4 year old swinging a mallet with parents not just a bit lax but nowhere to be seen. Teenagers swearing loudly etc. Kids crying on the hay bales because they have fallen off with no parents near. Lots and lots of adult drinking. I can’t see why you would come without children or teens as they are so dominant and we came as a family. In the whole time I have been here in contrast to last year I have not seen a security patrol or someone’s behaviour managed by the camp site workers who are working hard in every other way. This means that the rule against music is continually broken. Think drum and base next door at 11pm on a Sunday while trying to get your kid to sleep while the kids in that camp run round screaming. That would be normal and people who enjoy that are having a great time

Eweleaze is a fantastic camp site! Stunning location - beautiful views and sunsets. Showers hot and never had to queue and compost loos kept very clean and loo roll well stocked. The grand-children loved the hay barn and craft workshops. (Constructive feedback - 1. change the mechanism which allows toilet doors to be locked from outside - we experienced some kids having fun locking people in! and 2. Enforce your parental supervision policy in the hay barn - far too many children unsupervised and not always behaving well)

Shops and facilities fantastic - although very long queue for coffee shop. Staff were cheerful and always helpful. We had a lovely big multi-generational family holiday - yes it can be noisy sometimes with people outside their tents (but tbh it soon quietens down) - so be prepared to join in and do the same.

Huge site twinned with Shortlake and Northdown. We stayed at Shortlake last year. Much quieter with a small shop and compost loos and washing facilities only. You can walk along the coastal path to get to Eweleaze in about 20 mins. Ewleaze is vast by comparison with the farm facilities at the centre of the site. Great & varied food market if you don't want to cook and the shop sells lots of local produce so you don't have to leave the site if you don't want to. Other reviews mention the prices but living in London we thought all food and shop items reasonably priced. Beautiful views of Dorset and the coast and kids love the freedom to play safely. Lots of activities for young children too. Yoga activities available and enjoy the Turkish Spa after a swim. Loos and showers all cleaned regularly and staff are young but friendly and helpful. Reception will charge your phone up and lots of info on things to do in the local area. Great fish and chips in nearby Preston with small Coop for supermarket shopping. Weymouth has sandy beaches and Portland is a lovely day out along Chesil Beach.
Things that could be better...more staff in shop and bakery to avoid long queues at busy times.
Improve the long track into the site. Some parts have had concrete tracks put down but this needs to be done all the way.
Answer your phone line. I wanted to check some things the week before arrival and it just rings out despite repeated attempts.
Home your dogs away from the site. The barking is constant all day and intermittently through the night. Being woken at 5.45am by the barking was not fun on our first morning as we were in bell tents in Upper Chicken. Folk should look carefully when booking bell tents and ask for a tent away from the farm shop and dog pen areas if you want a quieter night. Plus ask where the staff tents are...again they are young and like to stay up talking into the small hours so pitch away from the staff camp area...we had a large group near us.
Put electricity into your bell tents if you are charging folk glamping prices.
But overall would recommend this lovely campsite. 2nd year of coming and we will re-book as magical place to be with friends and family.
