Review of Alsisar Mahal
5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 15 Apr 2019
All superlatives; excellent, superb, beautiful, luxurious, relaxing, etc. apply to this architectural gem. How could you not feel like pampered guests in this hotel where each room is a palace. We enjoyed our recent visit to Alsisar Mahal and introduction to Haveli life. Being where it is is a reward since it is not an easy ride but the rewards of relaxation are great.

A welcome detour on our Golden Triangle, we felt like TAJ's in this out of the way luxurious yet quirky hotel. A pity we only had one night here but it was an excellent hotel. It was a wonderful experience

As with many reviewers, we went as part of a tour. The building itself is magnificent and the bedrooms are really quirky but in a nice way. We spent a couple of hours round the pool which was very pleasant. Staff were attentive but seemed unhappy if you wanted to charge your drinks to your room rather than pay cash! Also the evening entertainment went on a bit which meant the food was a bit cold when we sat down, which was a shame as it was very tasty. The big question raised by other reviewers is whether it is worth the long drive out and back the next day through semi-arid countryside. We really like old buildings and this was great but still not sure

We stayed here for one night as part of a 15 day tour of India. We couldn't get to the hotel in our coach and walked up through the village which added to the anticipation and excitement. We were greeted by a drummer and staff with drinks and a bindi on our foreheads. We were shown to our room and what a room. It was beautiful. We had other members of the group coming in to have a look around. An area with a sofa and chairs, a day bed and then a separate enclosure with a large four poster bed. Yes, there were dogs barking and the local temple playing music but it was the most relaxed we felt during the entire trip. Fantastic heritage building with roof terraces and amazing views over the countryside. We had some entertainment in the courtyard and then a buffet dinner that was lovely. Breakfast was again a buffet with options to have things made for you. A refreshing outdoor pool where we managed to grab some relaxing time. All in all an amazing place that I don't think we would ever have found had it not been part of our tour. I'm so glad it was.

Room tip: I think corner rooms are a bit bigger
