The hotel has a very nice location, on a hill just outside the main Chanderi town area. It overlooks the dam to the east, and you can see the sunrise over the dam - quite nice. The hotel has a roof terrace from which you can enjoy the view, with a hot cup of tea perhaps.
The rooms are not in the best condition. I had the AC Room, which means it came with air conditioning, however the power supply in this area is very poor - only a few hours a say, and at the time of visit (Oct 2010), the hotel had no backup power generators.
The hotel also has a major insect infestation problem. Little beetle like insects are everywhere, and seem to be literally coming out of the structure itself. The staff do their best to clean the area, but it is a futile battle simply because there are literally millions of these insects throughout the property. If you do stay, ensure your room is cleaned by the staff morning and evening, shake out your bedsheets (and your clothes), and take precautions with your ears, nose and mouth when sleeping. I was traveling with a colleague who had his family with him, and we elected to change to the Shrikunj Hotel in town.
The food in the restaurant is good, and staff are generally OK, trying their best. The only thing going for this hotel is its quite location and good view. For staying, the new wing of the Shrikunj Hotel in the main part of Chanderi town is a better option. See my review of that property for more information.
