The temple is maintained in its glory and the entire complex is clean. If you are visiting as a tourist and not as a devotee, there’s a lot for you to photograph. The rituals etc. are for the followers and may seem a little restrictive for others.

The road to the temple and adjacent monuments gets confusing and the parking lot is a little away.

Indian traditions are purely people oriented. Our civilizations are evolved through trial and error. The earliest human settlement s in India are found around rivers. Water was a great source of human sustenance and this simple fact was very much in parlance in those decades of yore when internet and press / media was not at all in the near disposal
People might started worshipping the Narmada Devi for all that they gained in it's shores and the tranquility they enjoyed
Was a good place to visit and pray in this ancient temple
A visit to Amarkantak itinerary will not be complet without a visit to this ancient place...

It was my first experience to watch a place which is the origin of a holy river. Although just by looking one may not understand clearly that how or where is that exact location. The temple authorities has kept a sign board at the location of origin point but still it was hard to understand by me. The place is like a small pond covered with water and a temple nearby. Ground surrounding temple exterior was filled with sellers & hawkers.
