One of the best pork tacos I've ever had was at Taqueria Honorio: the "Poc-Chuc", roasted pork steak carne asada style, super tender, juicy, flavor-packed with nice smokiness, in fresh made tortillas. And for 15 pesos each!!! Worth getting up early for - we went for 'breakfast' as we'd read that they sell out quickly.
There was already a line in front of the carts when we arrived - but after some investigating we found out you can grab seats at tables in the back and a server will come by to take your order! So no need to wait in line unless you are taking to go. It's no frills street stall style seating, so manage your expectations accordingly, but the quality of food and value for the price, and friendly service can't be beat.
We tried all three pork tacos: cochinita pibil, lechon al horno and poc-chuc. The lechon was delicious when you make sure each bite of meat was accompanied by the crispy chicharron, but Poc-Chuc was by far our favorite: so good we ended up ordering two more, even though we knew we had to save room for several other stops and for the bucketlist dinner (and reason we were in Tulum) at Noma later that night!
They also had great agua frescas that were frozen and icy cold, which is super helpful in the heat. We got the watermelon and cantaloupe and both were tasty.
Wish we had a few more days in the area, I definitely would have made several visits to Honorio on that trip!
