Got way too touristy. Water isn't that clear anymore, and there are way too many people around. Just a park now with a natural (but cool) pool in the middle.

This was our second cenote in Tulum. After having done the cave tour of ‘los dos ojos’ we decided to visit this one.
It’s beautiful and perfect for swimming and snorkeling. There are 2 sides which join together, one with deeper waters where you can see the underground caves and caverns or swim round to the other which has shallower waters and little turtles!
Equipment such as life jackets, snorkeling equipment and lockers can be rented on site.

A must see!

This was our family's first cenote. It was like a public swimming pool atmosphere- lively and relaxing and fun. Lots of families speaking many different languages. I didn't like how you had to jump in, there was just a slippery ladder to get in the water and it was a bit cold- not the best for my 8 year old daughter or 82 year old mother. It took awhile to get used to the cold and the depth but once we did we all enjoyed it. Loved looking up and seeing the bats and finding spots that were shallow enough to touch the ground. Everyone liked seeing the turtles too. We all felt refreshed after our short swim.

This is an amazing cenote but it gets quite crowded. Go when they open to enjoy the cenote and take photos without all the people.

The Grand Cenote was one of the highlights of our family's trip recently (and we did a lot on that trip!). Snorkeling alongside small tortoises and into a cave with bats overhead was nothing short of awesome. Get there early since it fills up quickly after opening and enjoy a reprieve from the hot Mexican sun.
