Small hotel (112 rooms) but a great long beach, 5 pools, secluded and inexpensive all-inclusive. Unless you don't plan on sightseeing and will eat all meals here, you should rent a car. Taxis overcharge locals (I know. I'm a local). Hard to beat $120-160 per couple for drinks all day. Rooms were small but clean. Food was buffet style but tasty. Staff very friendly. Staff also puts on a nightly show for guests.

Our trip in Mexico was devided into the two parts: sightseen and the beach. Our first base was Tulum with its white sandy beach and surrounding sights.

PavoReal is an excellent choice for the beach in the morning and historic sights in the afternoon. The food in the restaurant is really great. All is very delicious! The entertainment program in the evening is fun and professional thanks to the great team of animators!

We really enjoyed our stay here. The beach was practically just for us and as it was low season there weren't so many guests at the hotel, which made the beach more private like. Beach is very beautiful! And there are lots of pelicans flying around. Staff is very nice too. Food is ok.. for breakfast is fine.

Mr D Feb,
Thank you so much for being our guest and for telling your experience at the PavoReal. Our pretty Resort is immersed in an unspoiled nature. You can be friends with pelicans, but also with some turtles who lay their eggs on the beach, or also with some iguanas lying in the sun. Thanks a lot from all the staff. We’re waiting for you. We wish you a wonderful day,

I have mixed reviews about this property. I will say that the property itself is very charming, well decorated and the staff is friendly.

There are a few qualms that we had with this property though, that should be noted.
1.NO toilet paper down the toilets. Ugh
2. Internet is very poor, included only in main area.
3. Plan to have a rental car if you're spending any amount of time.... it's quite a hike off the road and not close to much of anything.
4. Our room was small. So small that the bathroom door didn't even have enough room to open. It was as if it was an afterthought.
5. Scheduled dining times are odd. Dinner doesn't start until 7:30, which is a bit late when traveling with children.
6. Beach activity. Ok, now this CAN be a good thing... when you can escape it... BUT when there is a microphone/speaker set right outside your door... it gets old real quick. We'd wake up to the "Pavo Real" theme song, and fall asleep (a couple times at 11:30pm!) to the Pavo Real theme song. Karaoke 9:30-11:30, blaring into the room. What really go to us about this was that upon checking in, we mentioned that we were happy to have peace and quiet after our recent stay near an activities pool. Apparently we weren't heard. (Over the loudspeaker)

It was disconcerting.

Other than that... the staff was really friendly.
The food was fair. There was food made to order at each meal, which was a great option!
The pelicans were fun to watch and we watched turtles released to the sea.
We learned a new song.

Room Tip: Rooms near the beach/bar area are going to be loud throughout the day. Keep in mind...

Mrs Betania,
thanks a lot for this review and for your honesty in telling of your stay at PavoReal. We appreciate your evaluation on our staff and food, on the location and the sea. We’re very sorry about the high volume of entertainment activities. We’re going to speak out on it to the entertainment manager.
Rooms are not so small as described. It depends on the type of room reserved. We offer classic, superior and junior suite: the classic room is a bit smaller than others. We apologize for any discomfort about the toilet paper, but the front office agents are there around the clock to take care of any guest need. The same for the rent-a-car: you can have it through the reception, just ask it. Anyway, we appreciate your suggestions and we’ll take in mind of any advice from our Guests.
Once again thank you. We wish you a wonderful day,
