Rosewood is the perfect resort. It’s absolutely beautiful. But when it comes to dining and restaurants it is extremely disappointing. casa Del Lago has a wonderful breakfast- but when it turns into an Italian restaurant throughout the day it is awful! Each restaurant I tried in Playa Del Carmen (including the cheapest ones) was much better than this.
Prices here are outrageous for no reasons.
Menu can’t be called Italian restaurant when only two options of pasta are served- and it’s just not good. It also lacks atmosphere.
Service was very good.

This restaurant is well worth visiting even fir you are not in residence at Rosewood. We dined here often and it was perfect every time. You can't go wrong. The staff are lovely and they will make any adjustments you may need for dietary reasons. They are also great on any allergy concerns. A lovely, destination restaurant.

Decent Food, horrible service!!! My husband ate half an insect of some kind in his steak and instead of an apology, all we got from the manager Alan was the following defensive statements:
1. The bug flew over from the bushes and died in your food and it happens all the time and was totally normal.
2. You guys did not have a reservation and we ‘still’ seated you
3. You wanted to bring your own bottle of wine and pay ‘less’ for corkage (something that the Rosewood concierge confirmed).

Extremely insulting and unapologetic!! Not expected from a hotel of such caliber.
Not going back again!!

Great buffet dinner with great cultural entertainment. The wait staff and the dancers were great and created a lot of audience involvement.

I had heard so much hype about The Rosewood Mayakoba and eventually made a trip location scouting for s client. I was really looking forward to eating in their Italian restaurant however was sadly let down. I ordered what I thought was a safe bet, risotto, however what arrived was firstly lukewarm, secondly not really a risotto (The rice in Risotto should be quite gluey and this was not....It was more liquidy) and thirdly the main course portion was more like a starter portion!!!

The home made bread and olive tapenade sounded and looked lovely but the bread was ever so slightly undercooked.

I was very disappointed as I had such high expectations! The executive chef was on holiday so it might just be be case that the restaurant cannot function without him around.

There are much better restaurants in the area.

For example The Fairmont next door have a
really good Asian restaurant and for an amazingly good authentic risotto try Pavo Real by the sea, a short drive down the coast (Part of Kin sol Soleil, Eco Boutique Hotel Amarte and next to Belmond Maroma Resort and Spa) A new manager and chef are really doing great things.

Dear Jane M.,
We are glad to have had the opportunity to serve you at Casa del Lago, though we are disappointed if you were not satisfied. Our guests have typically enjoyed our risotto, and we regret if it was not cooked to perfection. Please trust that I will speak to our culinary team regarding your thoughts. Between Punta Bonita, Agave Azul, and the range of other Italian-Mexican fusion dishes served at Casa del Lago, we are confident we can provide you with a flawless meal that exceeds all expectations. If you plan on returning to the Mayakoba area in the future, we hope you will give us another opportunity to serve you.
Sincerely,
