From Playa del Carmen we took the Chizen Nitca tour with Valladolid and some cenote, i can't remember the name of the cenote anymore. The first "30min toilet stop" in the middle of nowhere i couldn't really understand. It was random tourist trap with possibility to take pictures with a man dressed as a mayan and buy souvenires. The second stop Valladolid seemed like an interesting small old city but our tourguide didn't say anything about the place. We had to walk around our own for 30 min. It seemed like a waste of time to look at the houses and streets without tourguide. Then we visited the cenote for 1 hour but after you see the mass of people in that small hole it just loses the meaning and excitement. We prefered to drink coffee for 1 hour. After that we had a "mexican lunch" that was actually a continental. And the last stop was Chizen Nitca. We arrived quite late, around 2:30 pm and it was really hot, the sun was allready high. For some it was too hot to walk around. Luckily tourguide talked about the site but too often it was hard to understand he's english so we had bits of information that we had to but together to understand about the site.
All in all the tour has some potential to be a lot better but at the moment we feel like we can't really suggest it to others.
I suggest you make the first stop at Chizen Nitca, then offer real mexican lunch and make a guided tour in Valladolid aswell. Drop the over crowded cenote.
