We were disappointed to find out that this was not truly "Adults only" even though this was what we booked. There were lots of little kids screaming in the restaurants which are shared by both sides of the resort. The kids also were also running around on the "adult side" and there is no policing of this. The food choices for the specialty restaurants were unusual, which was a problem for us. We were unable to find anything we could eat. I was expecting more seafood options, like red snapper and shrimp. After all, we were in Mexico. The salmon I ordered at one restaurant was served raw, and the steak my husband had was a cheap cut and was barely edible. We ended up eating the buffet for the entire week after that. It wasn't bad, but was not exceptional either. There are not enough chairs around the main pool in the "Adults only" section. We got our chairs stolen when we left to take a walk on the beach. This seemed to be a common occurrence, so beware. The beach was full of seaweed and smelled like rotten fish. If you are beach lovers, this is not the resort for you. Check out was different, as this was the first time we were not asked how are stay was, nor was there any survey to complete. We don't understand the high ratings for this resort, as it definitely did not live up to our expectations. Cleaning service and pool attendants were good however.

We went on vacation to Playa Del Carmen with two other couples. Upon arrival after a long flight and drive to the property we were told there were no rooms for any of us. Even though they were confirmed and paid for months ago. After about an hour they had us booked at another property for two of the five nights we had booked. The resort management did pay for our transportation to the other resort but we had another 30 minute drive to the other resort. Not to mention the wait time for a cab big enough for that many people. All of us chose to press on and have a great time. When we arrived back at the La Perla they upgraded our rooms to master suites. These rooms are amazing!! The pools aren't heated unless you are a club member so the water was a little cold but we didn't mind. We did use the spa services and they were very professional. Don't bet on getting a reservation at any of the restaurants that require them unless you like to eat dinner at 5 or 9pm. We walked by every one of them and half the tables were empty. We like to venture off property anyways so that wasn't too big of a deal. HOWEVER if you aren't the adventurous type or want to spend extra to eat elsewhere, even though you paid for all inclusive, I suggest you call days in advance for reservations. Again I believe that unless you are a club member you will not be able to eat at the times you want unless its at the buffet. What food we did have on property was good. There are plenty of luxury resorts that DO NOT require reservations(AMResorts) and that is where I will stay going forward. The staff is friendly and the pool service/maid service was impeccable. We were with some fun couples and that made all of the mishaps not that big of a deal. However we did waste almost one day of our trip either waiting to check in or out of two properties, waiting for taxis to take us to eat, and driving between properties. We chose this property as it was close to downtown Playa so we DID NOT have a lot of drive time in Mexico. The hotel tried to make up for the mistakes but unfortunately they couldn't give us our time back. If this was a restful romantic trip for me and my spouse I would have been truly upset. After reading other reviews on this property and various others all these inconveniences are a common occurrence. We aren't fussy people but for those of you that are be warned.

Paradius La Perla is great all inclusive resort. Room's, restaurants, shows, activities and service all top notch. This is the 4th Year that me and my 3 friends have returned for vacation. We had 3 other friends join us this year on our recommendations. We will all return next year. The service this year was outstanding starting when we checked in. There was an issue with the rooms we chose. The receptionist Yolitzin was friendly and extremely helpful. She upgraded our rooms and more than satisfied our concerns. Some of the other employees who provided exceptional service were Eva and Merina at Hadar for breakfast, Anel,Nancy & Carlos at the South bar and Red Lounge. Top restaurants were La Palapa, Fuego and the top was Olio with great service from Ulises. Simply put another great all around vacation at Paradisus.

We had a wonderful experience in Paradisus Lal Perla in Playa del Carmen. The resort is beautiful. The common areas, lobbies, etc. were all exceptionally lovely. The staff was terrific. Sergio at the front desk was always ready to help with a smile. And Edgar (Eddie) seemed to be there all the time to answer any question or to advise us.

The food was extraordinary. We have stayed at several "all inclusives" over the years and this was, by far, the best as far as food was concerned. Every restaurant (and there were many) had great service and ambiance. The chef, Ricardo, at The Market puts out a great Brazilian style dinner and took time to speak with us.

The pool area was well serviced. If an umbrella was needed, all you had to do was ask. We had lunch most days at the poolside Sunset Grill which was great since we could eat in our swimsuits. Sandwiches, burgers, salads, - all perfect.

Our room was upgraded to a one-bedroom suite on the top floor with a lovely view of the pool and sea. The bed was huge and comfortable. We almost had a whole kitchen - sink, fridge, no stove. Granite countertops, breakfast bar, etc. A large balcony with a jacuzzi topped it all off.

We have already decided to return to the Paradisus La Perla next winter.

Room Tip: Lower levels may be noisy being close to the pool

Arrived at this resort on 2/23/18 and checked out on 3/2/18. We were pleasantly surprised to be given an upgraded room without requesting it. It was a junior suite swim up room with a jacuzzi tub on the patio. Very nice room, impeccably clean, great daily room cleaning. The only bothersome feature was having to brush your teeth with bottled water.(as advised by the resort). We were in the adults only section in a secluded area with a great pool area, great sun location and private palapas for when you've had enough sun for the day but still want to be outside. The grounds are lovely and all restrooms and showers were immaculate. Lovely inside and out with sculptures and fountains everywhere as well as large indoor koi ponds. Favorite restaurants were Bana with teppanyaki dinner, LaPalapa with the outdoor vibe and good food, The Grill for everyday dining, and Mole on the family side for Mexican fare.
We especially appreciated the spectacular customer service provided by Fernanda
Gutierrez at Guest Services. We were celebrating my wife's birthday and she decorated the room with balloons, sweets and champagne. Whenever we needed help, she was available to us and always with a beautiful smile! Thank you Fernanda!
There is a great little martini bar called "M" Bar and our bartender was Estel! we visited him many nights before/after dinner and enjoyed his boundless energy and enthusiasm for his work. Best chocolate martinis anywhere...beautifully decorated too! Hostess Lilliana at The Grill and Hadar was always welcoming and helpful. Mother Nature was not helpful with the beach condition during our stay. Lots of seaweed and other junk had washed up and the resort did the best they could to keep it at bay but it was an endless task. We understand that the worst is over by April/May and the beach is much more inviting then. Also the nightly entertainment was very good! Salsa dancing, native dancers, and even Jersey Boys with spanish accents were all very enjoyable. All in all, we enjoyed our stay and must say that the people of the resort, make the resort the inviting place that it is. We will be back!!
