This is my 2nd time at this property, the 1st under the new name. I just adore it, so lowkey and friendly. This is not the place for someone who wants the big resort experience, but if you want a simple accommodations, and a gorgeous location and real hospitality... Then you cannot go wrong! I will be back next year and the next and the next...

By far the best place to stay in Playa. If you want a low key, laid back vacation, this is the place. If you want room service, satellite TV, $10 drinks, go to a large "chain" hotel. Our family of 4 (6 and 8 year olds) will definitely be back!

My girlfriend and I just returned from an amazing 7 day trip to the Mahekal Beach Resort. We originally booked our first 4 days at the Mahekal and were going to look around town and the beach for the remaining 3 days (since we had never visited Playa Del Carmen and were worried about where to stay.), but after checking into an Ocean Front room we quickly realized that we would not want to stay anywhere else! I can't say enough about the location, staff (Jorge, Alberto, and Magelio). This is truly an amazing place like no other in all of Playa. The stretch of beach is perfect and the food was amazing. The meal plan of Breakfast and Lunch or Dinner is just perfect for a trip to Playa where there are so many great restaurants. We would always wake up and have breakfast at the pool overlooking the beach and then choose to either have lunch and then dinner in Playa or dinner at the resort and relax with a game of pool or pingpong in the Casa Club Bar.

We already are talking to friends about booking a trip with a larger group of friends and family. This would be a perfect place for a family reunion, wedding or a romantic getaway!

Can't wait to return to the Magical beach.

Regards,

Mike

Mahekal must be one of the nicest hotels in Playa del Carmen! From what you can see from the seaside by boat anyway. It’s perfectly located on the calm part of the long sandy beach, still close to town, within walking distance. The food is very good considering it’s half board. We thought it was really worth it. Since this was our second hotel i Mexico we were getting a bit fed up with the fajitas, tacos and so on. We enjoyed the meals, not all buffets which we thought was nice. The staff is really very friendly and the place is wonderfully well kept! If going back I would book well in advance to have a room closer to the sea. We had a garden view room.

We stayed at mahekal March 5th-12. It was a wonderful experience all around. The food at breakfast and dinner was awesome. This is so much more than just a hotel. I would like to thank the staff for making our stay so enjoyable. Thank you Jorge, Rubin, Luis, Ivan, Rohelio, in the restaurants. Thank you Rafael and the two young ladies at the front desk, also to the bellman, and the cleaning staff. Everthing about Mahekal is unique. It is a rare find indeed. Go, enjoy the experience!!!! Griff
