We just got back from Playacar Place on May 30th, overall had a nice trip. There are more Cons than Pros. I'll start with the Pros: The location is great, right on 5th street, so you don't have to walk that far. The views are amazing. The staff is really helpful and nice.
Now for the Cons: if you enjoy food like my boyfriend and I do, this all inclusive resort doesn't cut it at all! In our opinion the food wasn't good and with only 3 places to eat it made it very disappointing. We would say the food was ok and would never go back if it was a normal restaurant. I've been to all inclusive resorts were the food was good. By the 3 day we started leaving the hotel to eat (which was only a little better); we did find a restaurant called "Sur" that had amazing food, staff and drinks. during our 6 day trip that was the only time we really enjoyed our food. Room service menu is small and just ok too. The food was the most disappointing part of our trip.
We also noticed some weird things here and there. Such as they kind of keep the premium liquor on the hush hush (ex: gray goose), we would ask for the Gray Goose vodka instead of Absolute and they would hesitate to say yes they had it which we found really weird and later annoying because you're being looked at like your crazy LOL. Also, it was like they only opened one bottle (of top shelf) per bar. So if one bar was out we would have to go to the other one to see if they had it. To this day we don't understand why they do this. So if you want top shelf liquor make sure you ask for it because if not they will give you the cheap stuff.
Another annoying thing was that we stayed in a Concierge Level room (suppose to have all these perks) but it seemed as if no one knew that was the type of room we were staying in. Despite one the the guest services people telling us that our Gray wrist bands is suppose to let everyone know. I had to constantly let them know we were in a concierge room, only then they would check the computer and then they would agree with whatever request we had.
There were also other little things here and there. I'm not the type of person to complain about everything, I understand things happen that are out of their control so I never brought up what I'm about to mention to management. Like having to call house keeping 3 times in one day for two days straight to clean the room or that on the 3rd day (because they are doing construction on the building) they were working on the water pipes and in the middle of my boyfriends shower the water turned brown!! They came and fixed it right away, but any person would have freaked out if this happened to them. He had to finish his shower with bottles of water to rinse off the soap. You could hear the construction from the out side of our room that started at 9-9:30 every morning. Wasn't as big of a deal because we were just getting up, but that can be an issue for some people. Our last day was the most annoying for me, part of our room is to have an early check in and late check out. I let the guy know this when we checked in, so on the morning that we are suppose to leave I get a call at 9 am from the bell man wanting to schedule our bag pick up. I then had to call the front desk to ask about our late check out, at first I was told they couldn't do it because it's not offered. I then had to explain what type of room we were in AGAIN, I then was told I would be called back. After an hour and a half I had to call them back, then was told we would need to leave and go to another room. When I refused and explained that I had already requested a late check out due to the time of our flight, they agreed. Only to be called back right back by the same person and asked to move rooms, so had to explain why I was not ok with it. THEN got a call again 2 hours later to tell me they were ok with my late check out. It seemed like the right hand didn't know what the left hand was doing.
By the 3rd night I was ready to come home and I NEVER want to leave on vacations. I love being away from home and relaxing, so for someone like me to feel that way says a lot. All in all we had a good time, too many up's and downs for us to say we had an amazing vacation. Which sucked for me because we were there because it was my gift to my boyfriend for his 30th birthday.
Hope my review helps.
