The location was excellent and the wi-fi when it worked had great connectivity. It is within walking distance to the busiest part of Playa del Carmen but the hotel itself was very quiet. The hotel felt safe with one night entrance. Good television and small kitchenette area including stove, microwave and fridge. The problem was that this hotel purported to be a three star hotel. That is an extremely generous assessment. It was a two star at best. Everything was a but.....
The hot water was plentiful but it had all of the pressure of misting rain.
The room was clean but the finishes were not the best.
The wi-fi was great but didn't work all the time.
The hotel workers were mostly helpful but barely spoke any English. (I know it is not fair to penalize for lack of English speakers but they should let you know ahead of time that this would be a problem.)
Parking was free but there were only about five spots reserved for the entire hotel. (Only pay for "deposit" with credit card or I suspect you will never see that deposit again)
Breakfast was free but it only consisted of two pieces of toast, a cup of coffee, a glass of juice and about 10 bite size pieces of cut fruit.
There was a pool but it was outside and acted as a biting insect magnet so you couldn't even eat your "breakfast" in peace.
Great air conditioning in room but the rest of the hotel was outside.
Small hotel so not tagged as cattle but no elevator and no one to help you with luggage.
All in all we were desperate for a place to stay for three people within budget of less than $2500 for six days during New Years. It was not a roach motel but it is definitely not a luxury experience. The pictures are accurate but don't show how small everything is and don't show how downscale the hotel feels. The junior suite was less than 400sq ft and there are no windows. Just a balcony door that looked on to the tiny courtyard. Clean sheets with miscellaneous stains, no face towels, and weird stains in corners of shower. If I had never stayed at a decent hotel before I probably would think this hotel was actually okay.
