We spent 3 nights here and it was almost 5 star. The location was perfect, close to 5th Ave, but off a street that is not paved. The lot in front and beside is currently empty, one is being built on. the beach is in front of the empty lot. The directions to find it were exact and if we didn't arrive in a thunderous rainstorm, it would have been easy! You have to walk up a few flights of stairs, so my luggage ( for our 10 day trip) was a bit heavy. The apt. is as pictured. There is now a water cooler, which is a must in Mexico. The bed was firm and comfy, pillows.. ok. There was toilet paper. The kitchenette seemed to have a little bit of everything, coffee maker, espresso maker, toaster. There were a few filters. The sink to wash dishes was out on the deck/patio. Patio was very private, good furniture and had a large view of the water. The owner came to welcome us and checked on us the next day. He lived on the third floor. The pool was nice with lounge chairs and shade. Wifi was strong. The tv had Netflix, but we never turned it on.
The studio apartment is really well located and very comfortable for a couple. The owners and the property management people were tremendous as any request we had for help was virtually instantaneous. The unit was very clean and its proximity to Cocoa Beach and 5th Avenue is a tremendous asset. To put it simply---we had a wonderful, stress free stay for 8 weeks. The price is certainly great value. We travel a lot and this stay was a wonderful one!
All the treatment we got while staying at this apartment was perfect, both during the reservation, check-in, check-out (we were allowed both an early check-in and late check-out due to our flight times), and anything we needed during our stay. The apartment itself has all the things you need to have a great stay in Playa del Carmen, most specially a stunning and very private terrace with an amazing view. Totally recommend staying here!
Stayed here 6 nights with a friend from Puerto Rico. Per's Penthouse is even nicer than the photos shown. Furniture in the sitting area has been upgraded and extremely comfortable. This studio penthouse is so spacious and well-equipped. The views are spectacular - sunsets, starry nights, and beautiful sunrises. Never needed air conditioned. High ceilings with fans and open patio doors allowed the ocean breezes to flow through - close enough to the ocean you can hear the waves lapping on the shore. It's quiet and private. The pool was clean and refreshing too.
We didn't actually cook a complete meal but certainly it is equipped to do so. We did reheat leftovers several times. Also there are numerous restaurants that provide delivery for just 50 pesos. This allowed us to enjoy the evening on the balcony several nights.
There is a mini fridge that is adequate but I thought about buying a bag of ice - not sure the little freezer section would have kept it frozen.
The only reason I didn't give an "Excellent" rating is that the owner didn't respond to a few messages I sent, and when we finally talked to his wife, she said they didn't supply toilet paper. This was an inconvenience I didn't expect to have - and for the few pesos that it costs to provide this, I think it is important.
I would definitely go back - it's a great location, close to the beach and near the beginning of 5th Avenue. We walked a lot and also rented bicycles. Regarding the bicycles it would have been nice to have access to the side gate so that we didn't have to lug the bikes up one flight of stairs to secure them.
You'll definitely enjoy a stay here!
