A friend and I recently spent a few days in Playa del Carmen at the Hotel Casa Ticul. We found it through TripAdvisor. The reviews were accurate. All the staff is friendly and knowledgable. The rooms are sufficient in size and cleaned well daily. The breakfast is amazing! Each day there is bread (with toasters) and a selection of jams and peanut butter, a selection of fruits, juices, and the ladies make a different egg dish each morning. Each morning we were greeted with a smile and the egg dish was explained to us, then prepared fresh and brought to our table. It's not a big, farmhand breakfast, but who needs that anyway. It is just right. The location, too, is good. It is on Quinta Avenida, but toward one end so you aren't in the hustle and bustle. Nice and quiet and good sleeping. The only problem we had is they wanted me to pay cash on checkout, but no one had told me ahead of time (that I remembered) so I didn't have the cash. Keep this in mind.
