Beautiful place! Exactly as pictured. Clean and spacious with very comfortable beds.
Although located in the heart of Merida within walking distance to many restaurants, the road is not ‘loud’ especially at night which is great. We slept very well.
The kitchen has a nice fridge, stove and microwave along with a coffee pot. There are three sources of filtered drinking water.
The showers feature rainfall heads and are quite powerful. Another nice feature are the extra-large towels.
There is a great little laundry less than a block away, and they will wash, dry and fold your clothes for a few pesos, usually same day service.
We took a couple of tours: an open bus tour of Merida which was nice, and then a day-long guided tour out to Uxmal and to a few cenotes for swimming. Highly recommend Ralf at Lawsons’s Tours. They are listed as being in Progreso in order to serve the cruise business, but they do actually operate from Merida as well. Excellent service.
We especially enjoyed walking to Parque Santiago or Parque Santa Lucia each evening to dine at different restaurants – all excellent, all featuring different cuisines. The Thursday night celebration of music and poems at Santa Lucia has been going on for 50 years – don’t miss it!
This was our first time in Mexico. We will come back, and we will definitely stay at Casa Koala again.

I stayed for a week with my family, Casa Koala is well located in Merida Downtown,10 blocks away of the Catedral and other attractions, walking distance to the local market. The house is very confortable and have anything that you need.
