Everything I expected and so much more! Absolutely beautiful hotel with an incredible view. Service was incredible and every need met by staff. The food was incredible. The chef was incredible, very attentive and wanted to ensure everything was just right. He made it a point to come out and speak with our party and placed a lot of attention to detail. He could definitely be a top chef at any NY restaurant! Can't wait to go there again!

Stayed here for 4 nights in January having found it on internet. Arrived just after torrential downpour but were quickly in our room (Harmony as in picture above of hotel) after efficient check in. Room lovely, huge comfortable bed, tastefully decorated and with small kitchenette. View wonderful. Sea was rough because of storm so no swimming from beach but quieter beaches not far away but you can paddle (take beach shoes) & beach comb for shells and coral. If you are light sleeper take ear plugs because sea is so near you can hear it at night, especially if windy.Staff were super, had lovely breakfasts and the most delicious evening meals. We ate there 3 nights out of 4 and it would have been 4 if they weren't closed on Mondays! We had the seafood linguine the first night which was the best pasta dish we have ever eaten (and we have had a few!). All pasta fresh made by the most excellent Italian chef. My husband chose the same meal again because he enjoyed it so much. Luis the barman was delightful and made super cocktails. All staff extremely friendly and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay on Isla.

Room Tip: If you are a light sleeper take ear plugs but still book Harmony for its position.

we would consider going back since we are on a budget. This place was not very expensive via a consolidator and was a good deal considering what we spent for the room. Casa Ixchel has amazing potential.

Our room was always clean and the staff very nice and accommodating. the bed not the best, but we are spoiled. The place is in need of maintenance -cant speak for all rooms just the one we booked and common area. with an amazing ocean front location they must up their prices to keep up with the necessary work to prevent rust, wood deterioration, paint and get some furnishings like reading or night lamps- we had to get up from bed to turn the lights out- wifi was great- hot water and pressure best we have ever had. the ocean in front of hotel just littered with ocean debri this happens in beaches were no one ever picks up. weird things we noticed like no place to put the soap while taking a shower so it went on floor, the shower curtain hung too high and the closet dresser had its doors taken down- im all about recycling and making use of a fine piece, just take the hinges down and modify so it looks finished.
we had metal bar stool on either side of our bed could have been used to put some lamps, but looked odd just there with no other purpose. there are no windows in this room so you may only use ac - hallway is just outside the door we would have preferred thicker curtains for privacy- but hotel seemed very quiet so no problem-no tv no problem- no phones no problem-
we wanted to try the restaurant but it looked uninviting although the staff again was very nice.

We truly enjoyed our stay at Casa Ixchel. The location is great, right a the sea and away from the tourist crowds in the center. (At the same time, the center is just a 20 minute stroll away if you want to go there). The pool and porch area as well as the excellent rooftop restaurant have an amazing view of the sea.

The restaurant serves a different menu depending on the time of day and is generally good but especially recommendable for dinner, we had excellent pasta and Filet Mignon there for a very reasonable price. Their cocktails are huge and really good. Another excellent place to eat nearby is the Mango Cafe, just up the road towards the South, max. 10 minute walk. (Their Coconut French Toast and the Jamaican BBQ are amazing!)

Our room "Love" was small but really pretty. The bed hangs on thick ropes which gives you the impression to sleep on a really big, comfortable hammock. Combine this with the sound of crashing waves at night... just wonderful. It also has a really big tub that easily fits two people. However, be aware that the room is tiny, there is very little closet space and there is only a curtain between the bed and the toilet. So you either have to be really comfortable around the person you are travelling with or one of you has to sit outside every now and then and watch the sea for a while. :-) Other than that, there is really nothing bad to say about this place. Clean room, towels and sheets, friendly staff that respects your privacy, great food, great location... we loved it.

Room Tip: "Love" is tiny but the bed hanging on ropes is sooooo comfortable to sleep in. Like a gian...

This was our first stay here and we couldn't have chosen a better place. The staff were all friendly and the hotel is well-managed and clean. Upon arrival we were upgraded to a suite (Grace I) which is a fully equiped and spacious one bedroom apartment with an enormous hotub! Although it doesn't have a sandy beach you can swim in the sea at the hotel or the town beaches (and centre) are a short walk or golf cart ride away.

Also, the restaurant is superb - we treated ourselves to the Mar Y Tierra (surf and turf) on our first night and it was so good we had it again before leaving a few nights later.

Will definitely return.
