We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Marcianito earlier this month. The hotel was clean, and although there was only a fan, the rooms were still pretty cool at night. I would recommend being on the upper 2 floors though, because the breeze was a huge asset.
We got a mini fridge brought into the room . ($15 MEX/ day) which was great as it provided a cool place to keep cervesas etc...
My only complaints during our 1 week stay were...
-It is pretty noisy until 12 am.... being so close to Ave,. Hidalgo was great, but it was noisy...
Also, at checkout, there was some errors in their billing.. significant enough to notice.. if booking online and making a paypal deposit or something,.... be sure to bring the emails/ paperwork.. or else they may try and charge you for everything.... it was a bit of a let down after our great/ amazing stay.
this may have been because of communication errors within the family staff...
The family running the hotel was friendly. and i would return. :)

Room Tip: Room 12 was great.. go for floor 2 or 3..

Location - Excellent location right in the middle of downtown Isla Mujeres. Only a 5 minute walk to the main swimming beach, Playa Norte. Plenty of restaurants and bars nearby, also a small supermarket is quite close as well (HSBC bank machine can be found here). Lots of scooter/moped and golf cart hire places nearby as well (we recommend Pepe's on Hidalgo for mopeds).

Room - Small room, but we had no expectation of anything larger. At the end of the day, it is a budget hotel. Bathroom was small, but no complaints at all. Room was cleaned every day. Overall, very clean room. Other reviews have said it was noisy, but we didn't have a problem with it at all.

Service - Very friendly and helpful. Didn't speak english, but this wasn't a problem for us (and we know no Spanish). You can't use a credit card to pay for your room. We didn't have any cash on us when we arrived, and they let us check into our room and pay later.

Other/Extra - We would recommend hiring a scooter/moped and going to see the entire island. Isla Mujeres is a great place for a relaxing holiday, and this little hotel suited us perfectly.

We chose this hotel for its proxmity to all of the main tourist attractions. It is in the heart of downtown. A small hotel with no internet access but another guest told me for $4.00usd/day, you can hook into a store next door that has internet. I chose to just go to restaurants with wifi. The room was adequate, cleaned daily with good water pressure. As per usual budget hotels, firm beds, thin small bath towels, white bar soap and flat pillows. All this, I was expectring. It seems like it is run by a family who also lives on the premises. All the tile floors were sparkling clean. I think Grandma is the cleaning lady because she was seen on several occasions busy cleaning. Coffee is served in the lobby in the mornings. There is no filtered water so you must provide your own. Very friendly staff. No pool but you are close to playa norte so no need for a pool. It was noisy with the numerous bars around us but I think the weekend had locals partying to late in the night. There was very limited time for quiet sleeping so I used my itunes on my laptop to fall asleep. No complaints, this hotel was in the middle of the action. It had a TV and no a/c, but while so close to the water, there is a always a breeze and a/c is not needed. There is an ceiling fan. A nice thing with this room was the safe in the room. You don’t see this too often in the budget hotels. I would stay here again if I visit Isla Mujeres. We arrived to Cancun airport and took the local bus. Catch it just outside terminal the second lane on the right to the main downtown bus station. From there you can take a taxis for 50 pesos to the ferry terminal. We took the Ultra Mar ferry but it cost 140 pesos each. It is a very quick trip from Cancun but our return trip we used the Car ferry which you have to walk a ways pass the ultra mar but it only costs 70 pesos each. Many of the locals use this method. The accomodations aren't as nice but it got us there and I am all about budget adventurers.

This was a great little hotel for value and location. We just got back from Isla Mujeres on Sunday and we stayed here for 8 nights. The hotel is located right off of the main restaurant area so there was no trouble finding it. You are also within blocks of the ferry, north beach, shopping and food/drinks.

We were given a room on the 3rd floor so we had a nice view of the downtown below and there was always a nice breeze through the window. The rooms are nothing fancy but it has everything that you need; clean beds, a safe, hot water, towels, a refrigerator and a tv. There was no A/C in the room but we had a powerful ceiling fan. You also have some chairs on the balcony which is nice for people watching and reading. It can be a little noisy due to the traffic below but it is no different than living in the city.

I believe the hotel is owned by a family that lives downstairs and they a speak little English. We don't speak much Spanish but it was easy to get what we needed. It was a great place to stay and would definitely stay here again.

This was our second trip to Isla Mujeres. We went last year around the same time, but last year we had no idea what the layout of the island was so we picked beach front hotels. After finding out how small the central/north area was this year we decided to save a little money and stay slightly inland. The money we saved afforded us a few extra days on the island which was great!

We originally were going to attempt to hit the island with no reservations and shop around a little, but we panicked in the end and booked Hotel Marcianito. That said coming to the island without reservations is probably a pretty safe thing to do, unless you are going during a major holiday. There are several small hotels that you won't find online and can't reserve ahead of time.

But anyway, for roughly 450 pesos per night (or about $37) the hotel was perfect for us. We received a third story room that overlooked the main pedestrian street on the island. From our balcony we could sit at night and watch the parade of people below and sip our drinks.

The room itself was roughly 14' x 14' and very clean. It came with a tv (which we hardly used), a refrigerator, a full bed, and a safe. In my opinion it was very comparable to Bahia Cha Chi and Ixchel, the two hotels we stayed at the year before. The main differences being, the location, the size of the hotel and the room and some of the unnecessary amenities: a pool, a bar, a flat screen tv. Others may enjoy those amenities, but we didn't go to the island to sit in our room and watch tv or sit by the pool, we could do those things at home. And as far as location, the island is tiny, roughly 5 miles long and 2 miles wide. Our walk to Playa Norte was only three or four blocks.

The room did not have AC, but we really didn't need it. Being on the third floor we had nice breezes and the ceiling fan in the room was very strong. With those two elements combined it never got too hot. Actually there were a few times when it was too cold.

Some reviewers complained about the noise at night and in the morning, but we were never bothered. Being on the third floor and having the steady hum of the ceiling fan we slept well every night and were well rested for another lazy day on the beach or a nice hike to the south end of the island.

Overall Hotel Marcianito is a great place to stay if you're merely looking for a nice, clean room with a few basic amenities.
