“The very best, period..”
Reviewed 17 March 2012

We have stayed at Villa Escondida 3 years in a row and intend to keep returning as it is a quiet little hidden paradise admist the city. Conveniently located across the street from the best guacamole in Cozumel, walking distance of el Centro and the ocean. Magda makes a spectacular breakfast and David adds a sense of humor that would make any Canadian proud. They offer spectacular recommendations for food and entertainment. Staying with Magda and David is liking visiting relatives that you really like and can't wait to see again. Thanks. T and J Minnesota

We booked 3 days at this BnB to visit our daughter and her family staying at a beach condo near Playa Uvas. The stay at Villa Escondida turned out to be a treat for us, a surprising oasis in downtown Cozumel, in the middle of everything, yet a serene resting place. Our gracious hosts are David, a good natured Canadian with a quiet sense of humor, giving expert tips about practical Cozumel matters for example car rentals, describing for us local tropical plants and fruit trees, including a caimito tree in a lush yard, and his wife Magda, a Mexican from Campeche, charming, energetic, always ready to help and a superb cook, who creates her original dishes from inventive variations on common themes. She presented us with healthy and succulent versions of orange baked cakes, huevos motulenos with her own tomato sauce and homemade tortillas, and different and delicious breakfast dishes for everyday of the week. We were so pleasantly surprised by the peaceful, friendly atmosphere of the place and the gastronomic excellence of the breakfasts that we extended our stay for another two days. This is truly a great BnB, and we highly recommend it to travelers who wish to experience a warm hospitality and unique breakfast treats in a soothing garden environment.

Room Tip: Any room, and the place is really a "Boutique BnB"!

If like me you believe that a big all-inclusive hotel is one step from hell (and hell itself is a cruise ship), then you may just agree that this place is heaven! Every time I stepped through the red door I felt I was going somewhere magical (yes, I'm just a big kid).
Magda and David were wonderful, not too intrusive, but do everything they can to ensure their guests are happy. I endorse everything that has already been said about the amazing breakfasts and their recommendations of restaurants, beach clubs and excursions are all absolutely spot-on. It really was a wrench to leave and we will return soon.

We loved our stay with Magda and her husband Dave. She is Mexican and he is a Canadian. They were terrific hosts, and Magda’s breakfasts were everything we could have asked for. Coffee, tea, toasts, home-made breads, fruit and Mexican specialties were included. They were good company as well as gracious hostess and host. The Villa is within the main business district and a few streets from the waterfront. Magda’s restaurant suggestions were spot on and our three-night stay was perfect. A nice little pool was a refreshing end-of-day stop after our snorkeling and beach excursions. This was great value and a taste of real Cozumel as opposed to the big hotels, not to mention our proximity to the heart of downtown. Highly recommended!
