We visited El Palomar last night because we wanted a somewhat romantic dinner while watching the lightning storm. They have great mixed drinks (such as La Llorona for mezcal lovers) and a nice covered porch on which to enjoy them. Last night the porch was full so we sat just inside under the high ceiling surrounded by photos of marine life. It was comfortable with good cross-ventilation and music of pleasant volume. We had avocado soup and a range of tacos to start, then snapper fillet al mojo de ajo and pork belly carnitas (which were a highlight). The tortillas are handmade and mains are served with white rice and black beans colados. Service was good. El Palomar is a dependable restaurant with a beautiful setting, great drinks, and delicious food.

I had the organic chicken. Chicken was very good, the potatoes were all the same size, but they were all different. Some seemed to not cook long enough, they we're actually hard. My wife had a bad stomach for two days prior to this trip, wanted just a grilled fish with a side of white rice. The waiter told us they had no fish which seemed odd because they ave catch of the day on menus. She asked about an item called rice soup with seafood. He said it was a little bit spicy. This had shrimp, fish and clams in it per the menu. My wife ordered it, before it came to the table my chicken came out, we split that, waited another 10 minutes for her rice. It was so spicy neither of us could eat it. There is no way a waiter would say this was a little bit spicy to someone who had stomach issues unless he had no idea what he was serving. Also, it had no fish and some of the clams served were not open. Overall service was bad. He never came back to offer more drinks and when he did clear the table had nothing to say about the too spicy for both of us dish. Waited 20 minutes after that to catch his eye for the check, had to leave table and go to the bar for him to notice us and pay check. We liked the d for of the restaurant. Bar looked nice too. Would not go back.

I just visited El Palomar, the food was great (Fish Taco is a winner), very good Guacamole, and awesome Mojitos. Staff is very friendly.

We stumbled on El Palomar by accident, after leaving another restaurant that wasn't what we were looking for. El Palomar, by contrast, was exactly what we were looking for.

The atmosphere is really classy! The interior is awesome with local paintings decorating the walls of an old building. It's a cool mix of old and new. The food, primarily seafood, was so good! We ordered a lot of different things and ended up sharing them around. The flavours were nuanced and delicious, between Shrimp Mezcal tacos, octopus, empanaditas and even lobster tail. Their dessert was also top-shelf.

Our server, Israel, was super friendly. He had no trouble accomodating one of our travelling partners, who is Vegan, and we had some great laughs with him all evening.

We went back twice during out stay, and would have gone back a third time if time had permitted!

We tried this new place and were impressed with the food. The lobster taco, non-breaded fish taco and poc chuc taco were delicious. There is a porch area for outside eating and a nice view of the ocean. The service was very slow. Although we were inside the restaurant, it is not air conditioned and the mosquitos were making a meal of our legs and feet. Next time we order food it will be for pick up. Hopefully the situation will improve on all points as this is a place offering unique and good food.
