“Great service and entertainment!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 April 2012

We spent 5 nights at the Iberostar. We chose this hotel because we had stayed at an Iberostar in Riviera Maya. the service was great. The whole staff did their best to make sure that you enjoyed your stay. The entertainment staff (Star Friends) was excellent. They were a great group of young people that interacted with guests of all ages. The food was good. There were a lot of choices. We were supposed to get 2 of the restaurant nights guaranteed but ended up getting 4 nights. The Steak and Mexican restaurants were our favorites. All of the entrees were very good. I wish that they had a Japanese or Chinese. The Iberostar in RM had a Japanese restaurant that was excellent.

The beach was rocky but you could snorkel from the hotel dock. The water was crystal clear. I would highly recommend snorkeling or scuba diving.

The Iberostar resort on Cozumel is like nothing we have experienced in our resort travels. The smaller size and layout of the rooms creates a very friendly environment where you can’t help but meet other people. The staff at the resort were very responsive and helpful. Our room was spotless and quiet. The room sizes are small but quite adequate. The lobby is the friendliest place on the planet. The lobby staff were constantly replacing our drinks. The selection of food at the buffets was good, but identifying the different dishes was sometimes difficult due to the way the labels were laid out. The steak house a la carte was also very good. Parrots, iguanas, peacocks, cats, flamingos and turtles all added to the amazing atmosphere. The beach at the Iberostar resort is very nice for lounging but is difficult to walk. We missed the long sandy beaches of the Dominican Republic. Snorkeling at the pier was amazing. My wife and I did the Jeep tour around the island. We would highly recommend the Jeep tour. I can’t imagine a better way to explore the island. I would definitely recommend the Iberostar Cozumel resort and hope to return some day. And a big hello to our Y-NOT friends from Wisconsin!

Room Tip: the beach is very rugged - bring beach/water shoes pack some cat treats

Iberostar Cozumel was chosen by members of our dive group. This is not by any means a bare bones dive resort; in fact this is a lovely full service resort. Transportation from airport was provided thru our travel agency, Apple vacations. Nice, you know you don't have to listen to the time share hawkers at the airport. We arrived at a cool lobby under a giant palapa. We cruised to our accommodations in a modified golf cart. Our ground floor unit was off the huge pool and had a nice balcony with chair and hammock. After a long flight the first thing on our mind in get our gear into our unit and out of harms way and finding a drink. No problem at Iberostar. Only the bar in lobby had my brand of scotch, but we met there before dinner every night. The main pool was pretty grand and there was a separate shallow pool for kids and lounging. FOOD, food and more good food. Great vegetables, awesome cheeses, the girls said the fish was delicious, beef was little tough except at the specialty restaurant. Lots of activities included with during our stay including Hobie cats. Three unit villas with private pools also available on site. The Scuba operation on site was well attended and according to participants well done. We dove with a Living Underwater a boutique operator. Their dive boat picked us at Iberostar dock! Since we are on the South end of Cozumel - time to dive sites was just minutes. Fantastic 100+ feet visibility most days and the traditional current resulted in 50+ minutes drift dives. Upon surfacing Living Underwater crew let us get settled and put a WARM dry towel on us and helped us into a full dive coat. Oh baby that felt good. Hydration was constantly on the crew's mind offering cool bottled water and drinks. Surface intervals were next to a pier where the crew pulled out cut fresh pineapple and mangoes and cookies. Nice! Our group "The Feral Divers" had 9 individuals, 3 couples and 3 singles and no one had any issues with anything at Iberostar and we loved Living Underwater. It seemed that no one else at the resort had any issues either. Sandy wanted me to mention that the service at Iberostar was excellent, all the service; from the flowers on our clean bed to the Chef coming around everyday and inquiring about our dining experience. We noticed NO drama, no misbehaving children just happy tourists from all over. We will return

Room Tip: If you want a ground floor or waterfront room - ask for it. Staff is very accommodating.

We spent the first week of April at the Iberostar and had a great time. We had a great room close to the beach and pool ... which we asked for upon arriving at the desk. Service was also the best we've had at other 4 stars.... from the restaurants to the lobby check-in to the bartenders, you seriously hardly had to bat an eye to be waited on.

Room - air conditioning was the best we've had, nice and cool and dry. Got a foam topper immediately upon request after a couple nights on the pretty hard bed - made all the difference.

Food - food was fine, our experience at the steak house was great and we splurged on a bottle of wine ($27) which I brought back to the room to finish the next night. Buffets were good, and lunch and breakfast as well...I kind of missed having more options which you would get at a larger resorts, but it was fine anyway. We ventured down to Alberto's (seriously closer than walking to the lobby from our room) one late afternoon for Corona and shrimp nachos and sat on the beach and watched the sunset.....amazing!! And then again for my birthday dinner, more shrimp nachos and grouper...very, very good... oh and Corona again.

Pool was nice, a little warm for this northern ontario girl but a good size for the amount of people. We didn't swim in the ocean except for a snorking adventure which was amazing!!! Pool bar - well..... turning 50 was a pretty traumatic time for me, so we spent quite a bit of time at the pool bar; the bartenders were alot of fun and a special thanks to our new American friends who helped us celebrate throughout the week.

Recommendation - the lounge chairs are in need of redoing, most of them were pretty saggy and there was no air conditioning in the Mexican restaurant, maybe it was broken the night we were there, but it was really hot. Other than that it really was a great relaxing and fun-filled week.

We spent a week for a second time at this Hotel on the lovely island of Cozumel. We chose this hotel for the lovely gardens on its ground, alive with many birds and other animals. The buffet is tremendous and offers a multitude of choices. The only thing I would be negative about, would be that the food at the omelette station is close to cold (bacon, sausage, potatoes). Nothing that cannot be cured by changing the floodlights which are not projecting any warmth at all. The staff was very friendly.Since this hotel is well know for its scuba diving services, most people do not mind the rocky beach. If you want a sandy one, Paridise Beach offers a suberb beach for $2 a person, plenty of chairs and umbrellas and free internetand only $10 away by taxi.

Room Tip: Near the beach bungalows 24 to 34
