Words cannot do this justice as a quiet location with very calm waters very safe for young children. The ocean front restaurant serves magnificent wide ranging dishes and the cocktails very appetising. Watch the feries over to the Isles and the ship battles in the vening time. Many buses available to go to the rest of the Cancun strip or downtown Cancun at very reasonable fares.

Room Tip: Chill out resort

We purchased a unit here 33 years ago and then repurchased a larger, 2-floor "C:" unit 4 years ago. I can say that the hotel is as good and in some ways better than in 1979. It is a smaller hotel where you can get to know the people staying there. Great pools, palapa restaurant right on the beach is most relaxing. Small sailboats and tennis available for free, Almost any water activity available - deep sea fishing, snorkel, scuba, cruise trips, etc. The beach is okay for lounging but is calm - great for small kids. But if you want the play in a world class beach with big waves you can go to one of the sister hotels a few miles away and do that. And at those hotels you have the same privileges as you have at the Royal Cancun since they are all private clubs owned by the same company.

Room Tip: Best rooms are 2-story "C" units about 1200 sq ft but a higher rate. Be sure to ask for a...

We spent 10 days at this facility. During this time, we had to move 3 times to different rooms due to asking for a larger place and only having small places available. We did have a fun time. The facility is great, pool is wonderful, tennis and boats are available to anyone who wants to go out sailing. My small children especially liked the craft corner which produced WONDERFUL ceramic crafts... the staff add some special touches after the kids are done and they objects come out great. We did some tennis but it was just too dang hot to do that for any length of time. My daughter lost a tooth so I went to get her a small gift and after talking to the check out lady about it, she wrote a "tooth fairy" letter to her so it would be in Spanish. The company runs a number of facilities and have a bus to get around to them. We found the place very expensive but you get what you pay for.

Room Tip: The rooms by the beach are smaller but have a great view. The bus to the other facilities is not rea...

My boyfriend and I traded a week at our base resort for a week at The Royal Cancun. If you are looking to go the timeshare route, this is definitely a superior option. The rooms and resort as a whole are kept impeccably clean and the staff is kind and accommodating. The swim up bar with happy hour is an extra delightful touch :) There is only one restaurant on the property, but with kitchens in every unit, it’s not really a problem. My only complaint comes from the reservation process. I had contacted multiple individuals through interval international and the resort specifically to request room locations. I was notified that my requests had been processed and should be easy to accommodate. Upon arrival they had no record of this request and our unit had a nice view of a wall and a mini-garden. After speaking with management they were finally able to move my room a few days later and the final unit was more than expected. While the beginning of the trip had its bumps, the final result was a wonderful week in paradise.

Room Tip: Contact on-site management to submit requests for room views. Print out all correspondence.

You can't go wrong with this all inclusive hotel. I have been in Cancun many times, this hotel was the best so far. Very CLEAN.
THE ROOM
Very nice rooms, they all have a balcony with an Ocean view. Beds are comfortable. They have elevators, but there are only two or three floors so you can easily walk up.
THE FOOD
Excellent quality, the buffet is very good, it gets monotonous after a week. There were a few flies around the bread. They have other restaurants which breaks the monotony. They have the best burgers at the barbecue area next to the pool.
THE POOL
There are a couple of swimming pools, one with a swim up bar and also day beds all around. If you get up early enough you can get one for the day, but usually by 9:00 AM they are all taken.
ENTERTAINMENT
They do some things by the pool during the day but there is no entertainment during evenings, which makes this hotel not as noisy as the others.
THE BEACH
Fantastic. They now have a wide sandy area where they have a volleyball court. There are waves, but not strong enough to stop you from going in.
SHOPS OUTSIDE THE HOTEL
There are many shops within walking distance and you can also take the bus to the market. The buses are quite new, very handy, and safe.

All in all, I was very impressed with this hotel and will go back sometime in the future.
